    • Pretty sure I read recently hat Colin thinks he’s a 3miler but Joe wants him over the the intermediate... which probably explains the contradictions. Not sure who wears the trousers in that relationship?!

          Monkfish 8/1

Monkfish beat Alpine Cobra by 20L
Fury Road beat Alpine Cobra by 21L

Latest Exhibition beat Fury Road by 5L

          Easy this form reading lark?

Latest Exhibition I'm really surprised is still 8/1. Trainer and jockey factor? Both are proven festival winners so that shouldn't really be it?

Cobblers Way that he beat, did beat Sempo and The Big Getaway when he fluffed his chance away the time before last. Don't think he'll run but if he did, I'd fancy The Big Getaway over Monkfish at the prices too.

That reads like the right line up for the right races.

The rumours of them receiving plenty of offers for LE (including from WPM by the sounds of it) would tell me that is not just connections that feel they have a good one with him.

The form stacks up too, it's great for Paul Nolan, and punters alike (not that PN will care about that too much), as it keeps his price honest, being with a smaller outfit.

Solid case, I think there's juice left in that price. If he were an Elliot or Mullins horse he'd probably be half that.

Just back now from DRF phew. I was talking on Sunday to a couple of friends of the Nolans and the story is that owner/breeder Mernagh had got a bit overstretched in making a bad stallion investment. He then compounded this by sending all his mares to this stallion. Outcome was a loss of foal sales income. He needed a sale, LE therefore was available. Willie didn't cover himself in roses the way he handled his part. Luckily some longstanding and loyal Nolan friends/owners got together to buy 75 percent leaving Mernagh with 25 and the horse left in the Nolan yard

Great story Pendil. I heard it was friends and other owners also.

I think it's unfair to say that of WPM, I'm guessing he offered a stupidly lower price than expected, or upset someone along the way but it's still a business regardless of emotions.

Would love love love LE to win the Bartlett, and that's without the cash down, it would just be fantastic for connections.

I am huge fan of Willie (a gentleman) and of what he and his family have done for Irish racing. But in this case after the December win of LE he went straight up to the horse in the parade ring after the race and did an inspection of the animal without a hello or a by your leave to the connections

I take it you heard the rumours of Mullins buying Latest Exhibition? They were all over this thread, so I'm sure you must have picked up on it.

The story relates from them rumours, seems like there was a time WPM could well have been in for LE.

                          • Nolan is not the biggest fan of Cheltenham.
I got talking to him at a preview evening about 10 years ago and he was very critical of the courses undulations arguing that you can jump an obstacle from the rail and end up on the landing side a foot lower/higher than something jumping out wide.
He wasn’t the most sober man in the hall but he was very vociferous, just plants a small seed of doubt in my mind about LE coming here...

Well Barry Nolan seems pretty sure.

Tweeted (part quote) tonight: "Next stop, Cheltenham."

Maybe LE will take the outside route at Cheltenham.
