Thistlecrack was Evens
Even Big Bucks went off 5/6F, 10/11F, 5/6F for this race
when his other races around those went off 2/7, 2/13, 4/6, 1/8, 30/100, 1/4, 2/9.
I cant see him being any bigger than 1/2.
Maybe wishful thinking but I think they'll definately be a couple going a similar price to now (8/11) and maybe a touch short of Evens
Take the Cleeve - he went off 4/6

In previous years Betfair did me huge favours with the boosts on their preview night for the stayers - Thistlecrack at 2/1 and PP at 5/2 both for the maximum £50 made it far easier to turn a profit on the week.
Note that my 'normal' stakes during the season are far less than that - mostly NH. Though for Chelt / Aintree you can probably double that.
For the Flat I tend to be much more of a spectator only.Last edited by squiggsy68; 11 February 2020, 02:08 PM.

Note that my 'normal' stakes during the season are £5 / £10 and £20 if I really fancy something - mostly NH. Though for Chelt / Aintree you can probably double that.

Monetary amounts mentioned.
Also, in my very honest opinion, such blatant aftertiming is also distasteful....but it does happen in here on the regular

Agree re: after-timing (though I wouldn't necessarily say that about backing favs, not like I'm trying to claim psychic insight!), but my point was more around the boosts that they gave to what looked really solid favourites - can't recall exactly but I think Thistlecrack was Evens when they boosted to 2/1, and PP around 11/8 boosted to 5/2.
They boosted Samcro in the Ballymore as well as I recall.
It's one of the previews I always tune in to, partly for the panel but mainly to see what the boosts are.

We'll be lucky to get Evens for more than "max allowed" when bookies do their previews won't we.
You can imagine on the Betfair one (especially now PP sponser the race) they go Evens for 15 minutes during the preview.
Shopping around, should be able to get a decent enough amount on at Evens perhaps?
I'll probably just wait for the day and get a bit lumpy

Emiton runs in the Unibet Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock on Saturday. I was disappointed with his return to action at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day but I put it down to him being rusty after an injury lay-off.
He’s in tip-top order now and has done plenty of schooling. His work has been very, very good and we left him in the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle this week. It’s a big day for him at Haydock but I would expect a much better run.
It was probably my fault at Cheltenham. I was a bit easy on him as he was coming back from the injury and was happy to just get him there. He was in good form but is a different horse now and will leave that run well behind. I’m not saying he’ll win but he’ll put up a serious performance.
50/1 with Sportsbook simply too big.
