  • In a way I hope it is heavy just to see what excuse Elliott uses for still running it in the Ballymore.

    • Ground will either be:

Good to soft, soft in places
Soft, good to soft in places
      Soft

Perfect NH ground and there should be no excuses for the vast majority of horses...

      • Dont believe the official going, anyway. It tends to suggest something quicker than the actual finishing times are.

The times compared with standard times, after the first race or two, will tell us all we need to know about the ground.

        • Since 2003 128 horses lined up at Cheltenham off the back of a warm-up/last time out effort at Huntingdon and ALL 128 were beaten.

          Time to cash out Shishkin?

          • Sporting John taken out
            Envoi Allen left in

Someone posted a very comprehensive trends pack 3/4 years ago saying this, along with Ludlow, Bangor and Plumpton, although Pentland Hills Triumph win on the back of his Plumpton prep will change that stat...

                • huntingdon a very different track to cheltenham so you can see why. you would need to know how many wins were expected for it to be relevant, and none of them were shishkin. you'd be crazy to cash out.

Yes, but it's strange how Kempton is light years away from Cheltenham too but that has clearly been a great prep for Champion hurdlers and Gold Cups.
Then again the very best horses may just be better at adapting...

Yeah id argue that the standard of horses running at Kempton is much higher and the best ones win at any course

                      • yeah, think it's because the best horses run at kempton at christmas and the lesser horses run at huntingdon. you look at the winners of the sidney banks there's not many top notchers in there.

                        • Not going to be on much tonight but couldn't help but post this...

Went on the Racing Post website just to see the entries for the Supreme and they have this as their preview:

                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------RACING POST TIP

ABACADABRAS is taken to escape the shadow of his esteemed stablemate Envoi Allen and confirm himself a top-class novice. He was among the best bumper horses last season and is arguably unfortunate not to be a two-time Grade 1-winning hurdler. After a scintillating first completed start over hurdles, the exciting Shiskin can follow the selection home, with Moscow Flyer second Captain Guinness taken to reverse form with Andy Dusfrene after two ultra-promising runs over hurdles.

                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I mean that is shocking isn't it?
                          When was this written?
                          Reverse form with Andy Dufresne?
Andy Dufresne isn't in the fucking race.

They're sneaky enough mentioning Envoi Allen.

                          Embarassing.

You wonder who writes this stuff, they evidently can't be following the racing very closely

I literally think anybody on this forum could do a better write up.

Maybe that's what we should do.

Everybody give their own 'Racing Post Style Verdict' for the Supreme, and we'll see if one of us can land a job

Sky Racing were putting up their handicap picks on Monday night. Enzo put up Good Boy Bobby for the novice handicap chase, they showed video footage and talked for 5 minutes about him. He isn't even bloody entered. It really annoyed me!!
