Paul has his supreme ride / ballymore ride. May be a dolcita situation where they want a jockey who would ride, jocked up.

Also his 3rd run so he would qualify for any handicaps should he have been entered.

Hes only running so late because he has been balloted out 4 times and was called off once when he would have got in.
Maybe worth noting 4 of those were over 2m. Hes in the 2m4 as is the only one the ballot would allow him in.

Thanks Kev & Scooby for the reply. Do you know if Lucky One is racing today for fitness or race qualification at the Festival?? Is there a minimum requirement of experience to enter certain novice races or does he need an adjustment in his rating?

To run in a class 1 or class 2 handicap a novice horse has to have run a minimum of 3 times over hurdles.

Yeh no surprises there - I think Nicky basically said the same thing. Minor point but noticed those chasing AF home (Easywork & Mt Leinster) have both been scratched. Nothing to read into too much, but it does reaffirm IMO that they have been deemed (presumably) not good enough and the form of that race should continue to be questioned as opposed to championed. On the flip side, Willie saying he is heading here off the back of a visually impressive display sounds confident and lets be honest, who doesn't want a confident Willie on side

Leinster's entered this weekend. Let's see how he goes then, might give a better gauge of the form.

Mt Lenister off a 10 length win at the same track. Entoucas that finished 2nd to Mt Lenister won easily recently too. The handicapper has enough to go off imo to give him a rating of 153. Don't forget Klassical Dream won the same race last year and was given a rating of 154 and look what he went on to do. AF is a player and his form is solid.

For me, AF is a definite player without question (I agree with you there), but I base that more on being visually impressive than the substance of the form. Shishkin is actually very similar in that regard as both have the same rating but I don't think we've seen either take on a serious rivals yet. Of course AF has the Grade 1 on the board and its clearly better form, but using 'Easywork won 22L last time out' doesn't add much substance IMO. Unexcepted has made no impression since winning on debut and Discorama wants further. Jury's out on the Donnelly runners, I can completely understand the appeal of both.

Very surprised Mullins is thinking of running Berkshire Royal on debut in the Supreme first time up

I spoke to Joe Donnelly [owner] about Asterion Forlonge and he said do whatever you want. At the moment, we feel the horse should go for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle and that is where we are headed.

"I had been aiming this horse for the Albert Bartlett. I had two races marked out the first day he ran over hurdles, one in Cork and one in Naas. I decided to run Golden Spread in the three miler at Cork and this fella in the two miler at Naas, so when Golden Spread got beaten out of sight, I said: 'Jesus, not only have I run this horse in the wrong race, now I am going to get the other fella beaten.' I said to Paul on the day, just jump out and make it because this fella shows us no speed at home, and then he bolted in. I said after we would leave him in the two-mile race at Leopardstown, as on good ground that will tell us where to go in Cheltenham, and he answered that question.

I am sure he says the same to Nicky Henderson. The Supreme Novices' Hurdle is a great start to The Festival, and it should be the same this year. Berkshire Royal is still in there. I have not got a run into him, as he had stone bruise before Leopardstown. He did a bit of work yesterday and is in great shape. I think he is good enough but obviously he would lack huge experience. I ran Concertista first time out in the mares' novice last year and I could do the same with this fella, depending on how he works.
