Having the 1st and 2nd in the supreme would be some feat for an owner as well, has it been done before ?

    Welcome to the forum!
It will tell the owners, which one goes to the Arkle next season and which one goes to the Champion Hurdle. Perfect way to find out.

Be another year that a Supreme winner doesn't follow up in a CH though this year won't it

I love these antepost dilemmas where trainers and owners have multiple options in one race. I don't know much about the owners, but I doubt they've had to deal with this issue before. They're obviously not small fry, having the current Gold Cup winner among their horses, but realistically they'll only have a handful of runners during the Festival, why would you run two super exciting prospects against each other on the first day?

Skybet have Shishkin priced at 3/1 for the Supreme. AF is priced at 5/1 for both, so essentially the probability of winning either the Supreme or the Ballymore is the same whether they both run in the Superme or they're split up. One thing's for sure, they can't win both if they're in the same race.

I appreciate they also have The Big Getaway, but he has won a PTP over 3 miles and I'm fairly sure Patrick Mullins hinted at the AB when he was on RTV recently (admittedly before his last winning run over 2m3f)

If I had all 3, I'd have one in each of the novice hurdles with Melon and Al Boum Photo to look forward to as well.
Agree and has to be a possibility IMO. Welcome to the Forum... great username, one of my all time favs!

Klassical dream hasn't ran yet. He made a race ending mistake last time. For all we know he could have hacked up.

Could make a few looks silly come the Tuesday, going from 3/1 to talked about as a rank outsider, for making a single jumping error.

"Would be another year the supreme winner dosent follow up"

Might be back to back for all we know atm.

              Wasn't about anyone in particular

I just mean that, he's showed the same traits all the way through. In terms of what he does at the start and his low head carriage. Theres nothing new imo.

he's become a nutter / isn't the same horse. line of thinking.

Seems to be alot more prominent than he needed the run 1st time up, then made a race ending mistake in the 2nd Before we had any idea of how he'd have fared in the race.

Theres a genuine chance he goes off in front and hacks up in this field. Consequently making us all look silly. And wondering why he was ruled out after a single bad jump.

The was just a bit tongue in cheek, I hate that one being trotted out

He was a bit short all year, but I fancied him and did back at 10's - he'll gain momentum if we have rain forecast too...

Last year I'd have laughed so much at the thought of Epatante being shorter than Klassical Dream the day after the festival. Crazy game.

                      • Bit simplistic to blame the one jump for Klassical dream the last day. He jumped the first like it was twice the height too.
He could easily have hurt himself, and this may have affected his finish, but no one will know for sure. I'd say it's likely but could not be 100% as he behaved like a fool and may have used himself up.

He was actually 1 length off the leader PM jumping the second last as they all bunched up as the pace slowed. Then couldn't go with them as they sped up towards the last.

Which interestingly was the exact opposite to last Saturday's race in terms of pace.

                          • Victory also raised the possibility of winning owners Joe and Marie Donnelly sending the first and second favourite into battle in the Supreme after Asterion Forlonge carried the owners' yellow and black chequerboard silks to success at Grade 1 level in the Chanelle Pharma Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday.

"Mr Donnelly may have a couple of rather good shots at the Supreme," said Henderson. "He's a lovely man and has some really nice horses. He's great and says he doesn't mind finishing first and second in the Supreme!"

                            • I have Captain G @33/1, AF @ 33/1 and Master Debonair @ 22/1. I think they will be playing for 2nd place behind Shishkin

Skybets prices are NRNB so they would factor in their opinion on who is more likely to go where ...its just a defensive position...he is unlikely to have the same chance if running in both given the relative price of the favourites .. he would be biggger price in the 2m5f with Envoi taking out such a large %
