    • He's done everything asked of him but 3/1?! Seems short to me up against Aba, AF, Chantry House, Captain Guinness etc. Looking like a very strong race this year.

Does anyone see the prices being bigger on the day?? Like say aba goes off fave, maybe 4/1 then 9/2, 5/1 etc or much shorter for the fave?

Once Asterion Forlonge gets confirmed for this I presume there will be a good bit of blue on oddschecker and could go off fave if the irish pile into it?

            • Listened to that Hendo interview couple of times now and he was asked about next year and the Arkle , the hesitation in replying makes me think Nicky already thinking about the Champion hurdle 2021

Id be pretty confident Shishkin goes off bigger than 3/1 on the day.

A Ballymore type Henderson said recently.

I’m on any race 27/1 and 13/1 but I don’t think he’s anywhere near good enough to beat Envoi so i would prefer him having a crack at the supreme personally.

                  • Long time reader, but first post.....

I love these antepost dilemmas where trainers and owners have multiple options in one race. I don't know much about the owners, but I doubt they've had to deal with this issue before. They're obviously not small fry, having the current Gold Cup winner among their horses, but realistically they'll only have a handful of runners during the Festival, why would you run two super exciting prospects against each other on the first day?

Skybet have Shishkin priced at 3/1 for the Supreme. AF is priced at 5/1 for both, so essentially the probability of winning either the Supreme or the Ballymore is the same whether they both run in the Superme or they're split up. One thing's for sure, they can't win both if they're in the same race.

I appreciate they also have The Big Getaway, but he has won a PTP over 3 miles and I'm fairly sure Patrick Mullins hinted at the AB when he was on RTV recently (admittedly before his last winning run over 2m3f)

If I had all 3, I'd have one in each of the novice hurdles with Melon and Al Boum Photo to look forward to as well.

Absolutely agree with this, he is thinking ‘if my boy looks special in the Supreme, then I am going for the Champion Hurdle as he is potentially miles better than Epatante”

theres plenty on twitter of them coming down the home straight but guessing you're wanting a full race.

                            • Not sure why that wasn't there when I was looking

....and he looked good. I'd be more likely to back him now at 3/1 than I was at 4/1 before he did that.

For all that it was a small field, Nico got him in and jumping amoungst others too. I thought he could have been a bit flattered by the winning distance last time as the second was eased down quite a lot while he was pushed out.... BUT, with this run it's now much harder to debate that he's clearly at a level where he could be a player in the Supreme. (Using Shan Blue, his rating and his bumper form with Chantry House doesn't look bad either)

Not rushing to back him at the current price, but I certainly now value him a very credible player.

The arguement I had before was price based, and the price was wrong based on his literal form that he'd shown, but he's now built on that promise that people anticipated and wasn't already in the form book.

Cashing out and forgetting to re-back has to be put out of my mind, and on merit, he deserves to be near the head of the market. Unfortunately

You can have two principles in the market and still come away with nothing, ask Dai Walters from last year. The Supreme and Cheltenham races are hard enough to win so having two darts Is no Bad thing. There different trainers as well and both want to go for the supreme, so personally I don’t see the issue with running both against each other. Having the 1st and 2nd in the supreme would be some feat for an owner as well, has it been done before ?

                                Welcome to the forum!
