  • Having banged the formline drum for Mt Leinster & Easywork for a while now.
It's surprising the prices that are still available for the supreme for these two.
Especially when you consider the record of runners in this race at the festival.
    Best trial bar none.
For the 2 shorter novice races that is.

After initially watching his maiden win I was looking to crab the form... a natural reaction when you’ve made a betting mistake. Since then, I’ve watched countless reruns and have been a little more impressed each time. This combined with the time splits analysis and judges comments like Kealey, make me think he’s the one to beat now, especially in a year where Willie appears to have no standout and Aba whilst bringing the best form, doesn’t look bombproof.
I think we all think he’s too short now for what he’s achieved but recently I’ve been including Shiskin in some dirty doubles and trebles with horses I fancy in order to recoup the position that I prematurely cashed. I’ve managed to do this but haven’t posted the bets as many were late reactions.
I’d be interested to here folks’ considered and unbiased thoughts now... is he going to continue to shorten and go off a very short priced and worthy fav, or is it just hype?
Dont want to steal the limelight but antepost thread post #697 from the start of August (if you could just forget the Ratthill bit though please!!)

      • With EA being confirmed for the Ballymore and Easywork confirmed for 2 miles at the DRF, should he win like I think he will on Sunday, then the supreme has to become favourite. Would love him here.

        • I don't know why Envoi Allen and Abacadabras were ever entered at Leopardstown if the excuses for not running were true. Basically, running either would have potentially resulted in questions that Elliott would have found difficult to deflect. I have a small bet on Envoi Allen in the Ballymore but I almost want to see him turned over so Elliott ends up with a huge dollop of egg on his face.

Very disappointed that Cedarwood Road hasn't taken the option. Again what was the point of entering? No chance he goes to Cheltenham. And Unexcepted should also be in the novice race. What's that about? It is no longer the informative trial it might have been.

They were keeping their options open as they are perfectly entitled to do, nothing to see here.

lol. So basically you are saying why enter a horse in a race when it's not their intention to run? This happens regularly KB, so no point moaning.

I do think though with Elliots strong band of novices, he is quite happy to leave his "early season" novice stars records intact and run others to see where they sit in the pecking order. Not a stupid thing to do is it?

Why should Unexcepted run in the novice? he's a handicap mark they like.

Started the week 7/4f to win at the DRF & a general 4/1 for supreme. Ends the weeks a NR at the DRF & out to 7/1 with PP for the supreme. If markets tell you anything, he’s 30/70 to even make the festival at the moment IMO...

I wouldn't worry. He went as short as 7/2 ffs, the market only has one way to send his price now he is not running at the DRF and the rumour mill starts to whirl

The market was miles off anyway. Windy market to begin with. Now challengers have started winning its correcting the whole market.

Jack's comment is re market not form. Best form but price was miles off. 7/2 in November. Now 7/1, providing nothing is wrong that kind of proves it was miles off
