  • I don’t think Footpad can with any of the G1 races and although it would be an unusual route maybe they should look at the Browns Advisory.
Will have to give weight away and plenty of it but he has class...

I did wonder that myself. Also wondered if they might just leave him at home and look at Aintree / Punch instead. But looking back he's never gone to Aintree. Did run a cracker at Punch though.

I guess you've also got Munir and Souede bingo as a potential small factor on where he goes as well, though they don't seem averse to having more than one in the same race if it's the right race for all those horses.

      • I really doubt it happens but is Cyrname 8/1 NRNB not an absolute must before he wins the Ascot Chase?

If he comes he would be favourite surely

          Yes probably.

          9/1 with Boyle NRNB too.

I'd give him less than 1% chance of running if he didn't win the Ascot Chase.

He's unlikely to run even if he did win it BUT as ever with these bets, if you can afford to tie the stake up, you really do have nothing to lose.

          • Cyrname is a horse I want to like but can't.
Raced predominantly round right handed tracks and beaten on every left handed start, I just couldn't back him with any confidence if he showed up in this...

            • i've been nibbling away at Cyrname for the QM on the exchanges, in the hope they fancy another crack at Altior. Politologue went from the ascot chase to the QM. Dont think the RH thing is an issue anymore as he's a different horse now

I backed both Defi and A Plus Tard for the Ryanair shortly after last years Festival, and CPS for the Champion Chase during Punchestown.

So since Defi started over 2M, this one had more potential to move between races, and put it up to one of my selections.

On regular reflection I ahave always been happier for A Plus Tard to lose Defi as an opponent and for CPS to take him, and Altior, on.

                  • Not sure Triumph then JLT/Marsh is a proven platform for your average future Champion Chase winner and despite Defi's 'defection' taking out several multi's it's the race people want to see.
If he wins, he will be some horse...

Defending Champ who would jump through a brick wall for Bryony

Would he? ITV didn't give her and Frodon much coverage last year

                              • Damn, I was still hoping Defi would come here. Have Paisley Park, Envoi trebles with each of Min and Defi for 5 figures!

I am sill a bit surprised that A Plus Tard is favourite. Have always thought, for whatever reason, that he’s just a tiny bit shy of the class to win this or the CC. Can’t decide whether I should get him on board at such a skinny price. Do feel he was flattered at Christmas and CPS has improved significantly since.
