  • Yep, that race made me think WE was the one, and APT was a burst bubble, at 4yo.

170 RPR when you are 5 is damn good.
      It's also potentially inflated though?

He wouldn't win a handicap with his OR now for me.... too much weight to give away based on what he's achieved (as I can't take the Festival run as literal)

Isn't there a chance he's just a precocious type? One that'll flatten out rather than keep improving?

I wouldn't be amazed if he never gets an OR of 170 - which puts him behind Frodon - who has only just turned 8.

On official Irish ratings (not RPR) he has 165 from his 2M1F Grade 1 win, the same as Cilaos Emery, both have similar potential to beat that, maybe in two weeks, maybe in March.

CPS has 169, must be from Punchestown, and Min has 171 (after many more goes in grade races). So as expected the second season chasers have a bit to find, they always do, until March comes around in their second season chasing and they face the big guns, and they win a Festival Grade 1 (or not). The beautiful cycle of racing, some stay at the top a while, and others burst through, and fade away a little quicker .

For us it’s all about March 2020 though, for now.

Not sure how long APT would be at the top of his game, but he isn’t over-raced as a youngster (5 hurdle runs), and I don’t think HdB is the sort to run him loads every year.

Dont you start!! Lol !!we all have a mare now and again !!
If they are thinking longetivity, why run him in a G1 2 mile race at Xmas and DRF. Surely softly softly approach would've been to keep it lower and build to a Ryanair. Not win a G1 at xmas (maybe unexpected), run in a G1 in February over 2m (potentially win) and then go up to the Ryanair.

On him going right handed + left handed. It's the main reason he wasn't really on my mind at Chelt last year. He was being beaten by decent horses ok, but he was also getting weight. Right handed he's miles off his left handed form.

I dont think i would take Xmas literally either, Mullin's horses were running in + out. They seemed confident, but they've seemed confident quite a few times over this season + it's not went to plan.

Think their hands are tied in where they go before Fez as no suitable races over 2 1/2 miles timing wise.

            • Im heavily in on Min 12/1 for this with saver on A Plus Tard 8/1.

But several tipsters have tipped up Riders Onthe Storm at big odds and as much as he winning well and jumps great has a lot to find on figures. His current price 10/1 , is that value? I could back it and still make money on race but undecided.

Their short on options agreed, but running in 2 2mile g1 chases and then using longevity as a reasoning for upping in trip doesn't really sound right to me anyway. Obviously if he wins again.

I don't think so... I read the Andy Holding case for him and didn't like it.

....but people pay him for tips, so the safe bet would be go with that....

What do YOU think of what you've seen of him though?

Think he a much improved and maybe still improving young chaser for the change of yard, dont think he hit the ceiling of improvement just yet. Big task to close ratings gap on Min and others but not impossible. I do like him but unsure he up to this level just yet........however lol

                      Almost Beastly.
So strong up front and a Fantastic athletic jumper.

I think he's a rapidly improving sort, it's just whether NTD has 'timed his run' if you know what I mean - because he still needs to find a bit more for this. Frank Hickey is mad about him and was the first to grab the fancy prices for this race before the entry debacle prior to his last win.

Been following him for a while - he gives some good value and insight. Won't be backing Riders but think it's a decent call.
