The QMCC is one of the best races you could imagine, chasers, going as fast as they can.....

If they win the 2m G1 at DRF and go for this soft option, it'll be horrible.

The well made point I agree with, is that there should be other left handed circa 2m4f races to go for elsewhere.....

but it's bringing up old ground and I'm on APT either race so I'll shut up
Yes, I need to contact race planning about the lack of mid-dist LH graded races.

    • Especially as the ‘new’ festival has seen the creation of the Mares hurdle, M Pipe, Marsh, Ryanair and Close Bros races, all intermediate trips...

Strike while the iron is hot?

He won't win anyway, he's a handicapper pretending to be a Grade 1 horse

Think you do have to mind them a bit at that age for longetivity. Too much too young.

Dont you start!! Lol !!we all have a mare now and again !!

The 'problem' I have with A Plus Tard, is two runs stick in my mind just as much as that Close Brothers win....

The absolutely walloping Delta Work gave him, and the defeat to Winter Escape when he was getting literally 1 stone of weight in a Grade 3.

He also was poor on his debut this season, losing against Ballyoisin (who is chronically over rated too) ......

He beat Chacun Pour Soi which sounds amazing on paper BUT it's not that hard to rate that race through Ordinary World.... which makes him a mid-high 150's horse....

I don't know, something about him doesn't sit quite right.

I admit I backed him when the bookies were napping over Christmas, for this and the QMCC, so if I'm wrong, I will get paid....

but I think he's an over rated horse at this stage.

              • Most them runs going right handed, its a left handed nag trainer said that himself

                • No horse starts out rated good enough to win Grade 1’s, and there are many ways to get there.

Going right-handed in those races vs Delta Work and Winter Escape didn’t show that horse as a Grade 1 winner, and no-one would back him for this years Fez based on those runs.

I suppose it all depends which part of his form you think he would produce over 2M5F at Cheltenham.

                  He does divide opinions.

                    Not the strongest theory though

                    Right handed:
                    223

                    Left handed:
                    1121

Hardly like he's staggeringly bad right handed?

                      Very simplistic that Kev.

                      On seven Irish/UK runs

                      Right-handed RPRs 129, 139, 144.

                      Left handed RPR’s 147, 156, 165, 170.

                      Better, better, better, better left-handed

                      • Never out of the 3, he's obviously a solid selection for any race.

I suppose I should clarify what I mean by 'he's a bit over rated at this stage' ....

                        He's more Frodon than Vautour.

I feel like some people think he's going to be incredible, and they base that on the Close Brothers win....

For me, he's obviously very good, and deserves to run in Grade 1's (in the same way Frodon does).... but he's not TOP class.

If he wins the Ryanair, I'll hold my hands up and admit he's top class....... I personally think he';s only good enough to place, which is a fine line....

One probably not worth me making

Don’t back him at the Punchestown Festival.
He may be only very good, going one way.

                            Yeah, Frodon's RPR's

                            164, 170, 175, 170, 173, 165, 154, 167

My impression is that some people think A Plus Tard is a potential star, I don't think so....I think he's at Frodon's level.....

Frodon is a great horse, just not a star.

It's just a perception thing..... me calling him just a handicapper is unfair.... he's clearly good enough to win handicaps from top weight...... I just find him to be over rated

                            It's not even quantifiable

170 RPR when you are 5 is damn good.

Maybe.... maybe backing Winter Escape off the back of that run is why I'm so bitter, cos he was RUBBISH
