  • Papot's?

    Never heard of them?

So must mean they don't travel horses to Chelt?

Not looked very deeply into this though

Ah I see, just found them - don't recognise the colours so my assumption (I assume) is correct, it's a nail in the coffin in terms of seeing him in the UK.

          • I got all my info wrong too and thought Munir & Sounede had just bought Master Dino instead of selling him. I then backed him TWAR on Hills. If he’s been sold to French owners then the likelihood is he will never race in Britain again......another bet bites the dust......what a fool I am

            • For me, hes being mentioned in the wrong thread so far.

              FOOTPAD

After reportedly bleeding from the nose when last seen, finishing at the rear in the Ryanair Chase in March, Footpad got back on track this afternoon with a convincing win in the Boomerang.ie Chase at Thurles.

Upped in trip to this two and three quarter miler, the star novice chaser of 2017/2018 began the process of putting last season’s forgettable campaign behind him.

Eleven-year-old Mala Beach ran well, but he had to answer to the Daryl Jacob-ridden Footpad from between the final two fences.

Still only a seven-year-old, and pretty much already a proven staying type from his time over the minor obstacles, the Creachadoir gelding here eventually scored an easy ten length win.

The 2017 Galway Plate hero, and top of the pile in the Ryanair Chase in 2018, Balko Des Flos disappointed, back fourth of the five.

"It is lovely to see the horse back on the racetrack and he had plenty of enthusiasm and jumped and travelled very very well. It's a great starting point for him and his jumping was very very good today and he never missed a beat the whole way around,” said Jacob on the Willie Mullins-trained victor.

"Today's trip wasn't a problem for him and ideally going a little bit quicker early doors would have suited him but he is nice and fresh and it was good to see a performance like that, this early in the year.

              "It was mission accomplished today."

              • My fault probably, just thought 50/1 was a decent price for a bit of a flyer.

More likely to come here though as I've said in there (GC thread).

Jockey will put me off though

                • Yeah, I think I was just following on from the 50's that were mentioned on the Gold Cup thread, but I too would agree that the Ryanair would be his best option.

                  • Yep this is the likely place for Footpad, unless he runs in, and wins the King George. Then the Gold Cup would loom large.

Regardless of future race planning, I am so happy to see that brilliant economical jumping back, it’s poetry in motion.

                    • Was a lovely jumping performance today. I got a bit on for the Gold Cup post race at a reasonable price with cash out but haven’t backed for this race yet. For some reason I allowed my after race judgment to be influenced by Min and Douvan potentially coming here when it’s no different to having Kemboy and ABP in the GC....damn those pink silks...haha

                      • At least he'll go for the most suitable race with the retained jockey.

                        • Yep, they have Janika too, for Ryanair or Champion Chase and Bristol De Mai for Gold Cup. Maybe we need to keep these in mind when assessing Footpad's target.

                            2 miler sceau royal
                            2 1/2 footpad
                            3 bristol de mai.

Janika can slot in wherever, hes not proven at the top level yet.

Not necessarily. I'm sure they have the Gold Cup in mind.

I made the trip over to Ireland to ride Footpad in the Boomerang Chase at Thurles on Thursday and he gave me a great feel when winning without breaking sweat.
I thought he put in a very polished display, it was great to see the old Footpad, he jumped fantastic and felt very fresh, it was mission accomplished and nice to see.
Obviously the opposition weren’t Gold Cup class, but the most important thing was to get him back onto the track, we didn’t want to throw him into Grade One company straight away.

                              • Henderson says, depending on what happens tomorrow/KG, Altior will run in either the Champion Chase or the Gold Cup. He will not be going Ryanair.
