I first backed Cyrname in a novice chase at Newbury in December 2017 (beaten by Bigmartre giving it 2lbs !!) and at the time made the mental note to back it the next time it went right handed. So when it pitched up at Kempton a few weeks later I had a bigger bet and it was one of those occasions where it felt nice to be right for once....
It then won another couple of races at Kempton and Sandown (didn't play at the prices it was then in the grade it was in) before going to Aintree, where it ran well enough but didn't look like going left handed suited.
Of course - this is essentially ancient history now and the horse hasn't been l/h since April 2018.
Do I think it will turn up in the Ryanair? In my heart of hearts, no.
If it does turn up, would I expect it to win? Ditto
But - did 9/1 NRNB seem a decent fallback if the unlikely happened? In my book, absolutely...
