  • Nap - Allaho (Ryanair)
Utterly dominant in this division with few obvious new threats to worry about... both Greaneteen & Protektorat could have more to offer at this trip, perhaps Envoi Allen ends up here too but Allaho sets a high standard.

    Lay - Easysland (X-Country)
Looked a shadow of himself last season and could well face greater opposition this year from the likes of Galvin & Farclas .

EW - O'Toole (Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle)
Sir Gerhard is about 6s for the Supreme, Kilcruit about 4s for the Ballymore and this fella can be backed at 33s for the Albert Bartlett... his bumper form is similarly top class and I am convinced (on my rudimentary analysis of his breeding & running style) that he'll be suited to staying trips.

I feel like you just massively insulted tiger roll by suggesting galvin and farclas are tougher opposition

Tbf to easysland the ground went completely against him and he had an appalling prep, having issues and missing his prep runs

Sorry, I meant additional opposition this year... outside of Tiger Roll & Easysland I think there has been a lack of quality in this race. Agree with you re: going and prep... I hope he comes back to his best but I would not be confident that he will overcome his issues.

Logged back in this week to take a nose and start warming up

This was my second go at the selections back in March, didnt do too bad with it

          - Bravemansgame, dont like his profile. Dont like the trainer for this race.

          E/W
          - Jeff Kidder, 50/1 for the juvenile handicapper on day 1. Why not hey

          My early sections would be..

          NAP
          - Shishkin [QMCC] : Keep it simple. Supreme and Arkle winners = Champion Chase. Stupidly short.
          - Allaho [King George] : Throwing this one in there, just to keep things interesting outsider the festival.
I can't see the Irish staying away from this race, our GB 3 milers are just terrible. Front runner, around a quick track, I can't see see much beating it IF he turns up

          LAY
          - Klassical Dream [STAYERS] : 4/1, you are having a laugh! When was the last time we had a 4/1 shot this in September that went onto win, Big Bucks? 4/1 for a horse that has struggled to keep fit, no thanks. Shocking price

          E/W
          - Goshen [??]: Yeah.... Goshen. I was a "hater" of Goshen last season. He had a terrible campaign, I mean it was shocking!!! Couldnt have gone worse.
Never a fan of these 5 year old, ex-triumph horses, during their first campaign in Open Division, HOWEVER.... I dont mind them follow year after growing out a bit more. Again, no idea whether he's staying over hurdles, but if he does, I think there's a race for him.
Would love the Moore's to campaign to run in the County, back over the new course where we saw he's best performance, a less tactical race. However, I cant see the Moore doing this, they'll try and snatch a few graded races, which is likely due to the lack competition over here.
If the going is testing, proper testing, come March, I'd even back him E/W for the CH if the price is right

            • Opatcho, I too think Mullins will send one over to win the KG this year....... However, I think it'll be Asterion Forlonge. His love for a RH track and his style of running has that race written all over him. I think he's a stonking good bet at 25's. Are you listening Willie ???!!!! Get him on the plane mate !

I like him for that too.

3M could be the making of him.

                • Is there not a stat about being proven over 3 miles for KG winners, so AF and Allaho would need to have won over 3 miles, or they'd have to buck the trend?

EDIT - just looked over Allaho's career and it includes a 3m hurdle win at Clonmel, beating Minella Indo into 2nd no less

I follow that 3m trend, but not fussed if they have won a big 3 miler

Allaho’s has placed in a AB and RSA, doesn’t quiet stay the 3 miles around Cheltenham, but a speed track like Kempton will be just right for him

I do like this angle, one at the bigger prices

I’ll end up backing all of the Irish at this rate for the KG

                        • Henry and willie both have 3 top class chasers so you'd think they will surely both have a runner in the king George so they arent all running against each other in the savills chase

That's exactly my thinking FF. Although Willie may send one of his down the 'Al Boum' route.

The al boum route would be perfect for monkfish. I think he needs a light campaign to be seen at his best.

I think Allaho would have a big chance in the king george but Willie hasn’t sent anything over for years and I doubt both cheveley horses will run. I think if envoi gets in a prep run the kg would look a good fit and hdb might run him. Willie could send over asterion forlonge seeing as its right handed.

                              • There aren't many races for allaho other than the John durkan

He probably won't even win that as he usually needs his first run

3 miles on decent ground kempton would surely play more to his strengths than the savills

After the injury I can see henry giving envoi an easy campaign in the first half of the season maybe not running in a grade 1 until the DRF

A Plus Tard goes to haydock but is another who usually needs his first run of the season

Hard to map out where all these irish horses will end up
