'Vibes from trainer that he probably should ride Slate house' in the RSA rather than Copperhead.

at the Boyle/rte preview on Tuesday ruby teased puppy about his ride in this - copperhead has had 3 different jocks in last three races. Pupoy said Slate House had ew claims - Ruby said that’s the one you are riding then.

He didn't say the vibes from the trainer are that he should ride Slate House at the Boyle Sports preview. I have backed Slate House and would be shocked if I missed that when they were talking about the RSA. Unless it was mentioned at a different part of the night.

Very positive for a Slate House backer, I must say

Cheers for that. Happy to hear that but very surprised.

I didnt say that either. Sounds like one of those jockey politics things imo.

Do Minella Indo or Copperhead deserve to be favourites and less than 4/1?

Minella Indo would be quite possibly the worst value fav of the festival. Mullered by Laurina in his debut (with the others behind no good) and beat Captain CJ by 1 and a half lengths. He's also a 5/6 out of 10 jumper. He would need to run 15 to 20 lengths better than either of those races to be competitive here.

Copperhead won a Reynoldston in heavy where his 2 market rivals never travelled a yard. Best runs are right handed.

Allaho looks too keen and I'd be hoping he will go to the Marsh (probably in vain).

If we have Champ, Minella Indo, Copperhead, Allaho, Faugheen/Easy Game and even Slate House and Battleoverdoyen, then any horse in this race at less than 4/1 is underpriced.

I can't wait for this race as on paper it's strong, but I do think we may end up with an impressive winner and several underwhelming losers

                    • The market is finally correct now. Minella Indo should be clear favourite and for me is bomb proof. The same prep this year as last year and just look what turned up in the Albert Bartlett. He could have went round again and I expect the same outcome in the RSA. I listened to people talk about how the step up in trip will improve Champs chances in this. I just can’t have him as I see him as a none stayer over 3 miles at Cheltenham and let’s not even talk about his jumping !! Not long to wait to find out.

                        • Completely with you DS. That’s not to say minella can’t win but at 7/2. Behave. The only thing he has going for him is how well he travelled in last years AB. He looked like a good horse there but his chase form is underwhelming. He could win but not for me at 7/2.

Was his hurdle form pre Cheltenham last year underwhelming ??? He’s been primed for the race in the same manor as last season. I actually think 7/2 is a fair price.

Minella Indo would be one of my best winners but he needs to improve his jumping for that to happen. In an ideal world I would like to see him try and make all but I am not sure his jumping is sharp enough to allow him to maintain a lead.

I’ve debated with you loads on Champ and MI in the last few months.

At this point, all I can do is wish you luck with your bet.

I hope both horses get round and we can see a clear result either way.
