I'm going to back Tornado Flyer NRNB at 50/1 for this.

Mullins highest ever rated bumper horse. He has been getting the trip wrong, as with plenty of bumper horses.... he might need a trip.

Willie has worked out he's not a two miler....

He ran in the Flogas, beaten 6.5L behind Faugheen.....

I am convinced he's got more ability than he's shown so far.

He placed in the Cheltenham Bumper and if he lines up here, no Willie Mullins Grade 1 winning horse (and Grade 1 placed chaser) should be 50/1 in a race

Was just looking at this horse the other day as I liked him as a bumper horse, and I was trying to see if there was a race i'd back him in, that might be the one

Much more likely to go to the Ultima if beaten? Perhaps you're right.

I'm not backing him anyway, so I'm not fussed now.

I wouldnt have Pym for this race though id rather he goes to the ultima off a nice weight.

If Pym wins at the weekend he is almost certain imo to go RSA and would be bang there on ratings, with Cheltenham winning form over fences.

Reckon he’d get a fair hike in the weights to go ultima but that would be a very negative approach surely?

He’ll go single figures for rsa if winning at weekend imo.

I'm not a big fan of Sam Brown he looks more suited to the 4 miler imo. Its an interesting race on Saturday. Pym and Copperhead both improving types and a few other nice ones running. I just cant see what all the fuss is about with Sam Brown myself.

Well it was only a 4 runner race and the favourite fell. I dont really rate the 2nd and 3rd horse as being anything special.
Sam Brown made a few mistakes in a small field average looking race. The only time he has gone right handed over obstacles he was unplaced at odds of 6/5 which may or may not be significant at Ascot on Saturday.
Maybe he will hack up and make me look stupid but I think he is over rated. I probably have at least 4 horses ahead of him on Saturday. Think he will find it all too much and will be beaten and I think connections will commit to the 4 miler after the race.

If he gets beat sat i don't think he will go at all as trainer thinks he's classy and would happily wait till next year for some big pots if not quite up to the RSA. lto he made a few mistakes but his chase debut was faultless was really impressive.

For me, saying the favourite fell isn't a negative to beat Sam Brown with. The fav fell 2 out when well beaten off, it's not like he fell before having a say?

The second is rated 143 and whilst that's not great,
he got walloped 15L!

This all over a trip too short for Sam Brown, makes me confident over further his jumping will hold up.

The size of the field isn't that important, I'm very much of the opinion it was regarded a GOOD race before it, and he took them apart.

In a match bet I'd take him over Pym. The one im worried about is Copperhead, as despite not having the form in the book yet, he looks like he could be very progressive.


I disagree that Sam Brown beaten here means NH Chase ... unless it's a very specific case that he's done for type and plugs on.

I think if he doesn't win, he may miss Cheltenham altogether

Apologies if others have commented but I am very intrigued about Aye Right for this. Always looked like he would come into his own as a chaser and, on admittedly pretty flimsy evidence, appears a good jumper (was always fluent over hurdles as well). His unseat was a little unlucky but it is interesting he was pitched straight into a Grade 2 for his first run over fences. A three and two runner race are hardly ideal preparations for this but he is still very interesting at 40/1. A bit speculative perhaps but I think the favourites are vulnerable so may be worth a shot.

Interesting comment, why would you be worried about Coppperhead and less so Pym?

I'd say Pym is just as, if not more progressive than Copperhead. With the exception of the one year age gap Pym has ultimately done more, is rated higher and more consistent than Copperhead.

Pym has had 11 career starts and only finished outside the top two twice, Copperhead 11 career starts and outside the top two 7 times. Copperhead is beating a lot lesser than what Pym has (on ratings anyway).

I do think Sam Brown is open to plenty more though, and can't see why he couldn't be a player.
