I’m amazed he still has a job. His only job is to watch racing and regularly can’t remember things On the RP podcasts that everyone on here would know as a given. Chats about racing as if it a chore and then often says he has no interest in watching the live racing as he’s more interested in watching his shot football team. He has a very dismissive attitude to his job which is fine in private but to be so obvious so regularly on the various podcasts is unforgivable. Coupled with that he talks utter pish a lot of the time.

Then you have Kealy who is the complete opposite. Engaging, informed and loves it. Should be the main man at RP.

Thought Kealy was the main man at the RP? At least from a punting/tipping POV, anyway.

Seem to remember him being listed as 'betting editor', so presume he was above the likes or Segal, Gahan, Birch etc. etc.

As for Segal, I seem to remember him admitting himself that he had gotten out of touch with the game, and needed to look at his approach. He was missing obvious things by trying to be contrary, rather than just trying to pick winners.

Only ones I pay any mind to are Kealy, Hickey, and Lynch. In that order. And even then, there are much sharper punters here, without doubt.

Hope ye not a Faugheen fan then! He gave him absolute zero chance of winning in March!

          • I think Segal is being a little harsh there- with 6 weeks to the fez I’d say they’ll be grand. If anything what the weekend did do was prove who could cope with spring ground at Cheltenham as opposed to the usual Irish soft ground form.

            • Re minor market move for Copperhead. Presumably, Tizzard must have come out with something along the lines of we would rather be outclassed in the RSA than have a chance of winning the National Hunt Chase?

Probably a couple of things - he's said in the Weekender (which is think is same article as in R&F Outlook) that the intention is to go Reynoldstown at Ascot where if all goes well he'll go to the RSA as an interesting contender.

He also made what I guess was a throwaway comment in the piece in the RP on Sunday where as they walked past Copperhead he said "there's your RSA winner".

The fact he does get paid is the main reason I get annoyed, and I doubt I'm alone.
