  • Perfect introduction I'd say. Jumping will improve, will improve with fitness, will improve with extra distance. Looks the one to beat at this early stage.

    • Looking forward to City Islands chasing debut this weekend now; form of the Ballymore is already working out well

      • It reminded me of DDS’s early races and his jumping improved with time so I think Champ will improve. I backed him mid race in B365’s TWAR so glad I did now.

Have him in my RSA book as well. Very impressive in the Neptune.

          • Very easy to be critical of higher class horses who don't put lengths between them and inferior opposition but there isn't a trainer in the world who is training his/her horses to peak in November.
These types of races are all an education and the literal form is, in my view, irrelevant...

Spot on. That’s why tearing apart what BOD beat FTO is pointless. Agree re peaking although there are certainly trainers with horses more forward at this time of year

7/2 would be desperately short at this stage although see its generally 5/1 now, still got the like of Minella Indo, Allaho, Carefully selected, bright forecast, dickie diver amongst others to strut their stuff. Nevertheless a smart performance first time up and onto better things.

Theres nothing pointless in having a personal view that he'll be beaten as soon as he goes up in grade,

He diddnt do a tap in front, personally think it's useful information.

Same as it wouldnt matter to me if somebody though champ was rubbish today, it would be poor judgement imo, as he was far from it, but we all have own opinions. The whole point of a forum.

Agree, nothing pointless about that view whatsoever (even though I disagree). I said it’s pointless tearing apart form first time out in weak races like the one he won. We’ll know how good he is when he goes up in grade like you say.

                        • If youve backed Champ you have to be very happy today, not sure what people crabbing him want from a beginners chase, to me it was job done and job done well. He might not win the RSA but todays performance certainly didnt tell us that he wont.

I was discussing Champ not me. I wasnt impressed by his jumping and he clearly isnt a natural. Sorry if my opinion upsets you.

                            • I thought that was a tidy enough performance on debut from champ today, has anyone heard anything regards bright forecast? Last I heard was he was going to go to Huntingdon last Sunday

                              • ...Henderson quoted as saying the ‘Kauto Star’ is the ‘obvious target’ for Champ, not sure what price that Kauto Star/RSA double is.
