  • My worry with Marie's Rock is she looks very pacey and with the Mares Novice being on the New course you need more of a Stayer. She could be a contender for next year's Champion Hurdle though.

I think this is absolutely bang on. A few people at work, who know zilch about racing, have told me to back Maria's Rock at Cheltenham.

She may win but it defo a case of excited owners causing her price to be cut.

Absolutely, typical case of a little knowledge

Can’t knock Marie’s Rock myself as confess to betting at 33/1 and have just cashed out for double my stake .

You've backed at 33s and cashed at just double???

I’m not as structured and organised as you youngsters and not as conversant with cashing out procedures as first year I’ve done it .

Been a pen and paper man up until this year but now have all bets recorded on My Tracker
I set myself a profit target and have achieved it the last 3 years , it’s not a fortune but I’m happy .

Appreciate your comments , your insight on juveniles and the info you glean is brilliant and I have commented to that effect and like many on here we are very grateful .

Glad you chose not to go into retirement
Note that you’re in Bath ?

Have v fond memories of Claverton Down and Bath rugby club , I digress, it’s an age thing

            • Think Floressa would beat Marie’s rock. The form of her listed win isn’t all that. Admittedly she did win nicely.

Agree. Floressa is well ahead in my book.

                • Just wondered if I had missed some news on Glancing Queen with her not being out yet?

                    • Didn't hear that, but on one of those RP youtube shows, Wayne Hutchinson said if he could ride one of kings horses at chelt it would be her + she has just had a a setback or two. Didn't sound like he was ruling her out

For what it’s worth, I like her too.

Although Lamarckise and Dolcita are much bigger winners, TGQ was one I’d have backed for this before she ran in a prep. They really like here from what I’ve heard.

Yes some very positive vibes from the yard about her. It helps a lot too that the Aintree bumpers form doesn't look too bad either with both 2nd and 3rd winning both starts this season over hurdles!

Talking of Lamarckise, still no word on an entry. It wouldn't be as much a worry if she was going for say the Supreme, as I think the Mares Novice is much more lenient with regards to previous runs, but it would still be nice for an entry.

I think as Scooby has said before, novices that win for the first time after 1st February can retain novice status until 30th November, so if her Irish debut is coming late January (for example) with only that one run pre-Cheltenham, then it maybe that they hold on to her for a few days more and run in early Feb instead.
