What was your verdict on the two big novice races at Fairyhouse on Sunday?

Noel Fehily, former jockey I was very impressed with Fakir D’Oudairies, who clearly loves jumping fences and looks a very good horse. You had to be impressed by Envoi Allen too. His bumper form was top drawer and he’s looked good in both starts over hurdles. I think he’ll be even better when he goes up in trip.

Micky Hammond, trainer Envoi Allen was impressive and looks a machine, he jumps well and it looks as though you can ride him whichever way you want. Fakir D’Oudairies jumped exceptionally well and has bags of scope for a four-year-old. He could be even better back at two miles. Over this trip it might have fallen Samcro’s way – his was a novicey mistake.

Patrick Mullins, jockey Samcro looks like he is back to his best. He was giving Fakir D’Oudairies 8lb and probably would have beaten him too. Envoi Allen looks like he could do anything he wants in life.

Amy Murphy, trainer Envoi Allen was a top bumper horse last year and showed he can also jump when making all in the Royal Bond for Cheveley Park Stud. He looks a natural for the Supreme. It would have been fascinating to see how Samcro would have fared in the Drinmore if he had stayed on his feet. Fakir D’Oudairies didn’t look to be stopping and may well have won anyway.

Kevin O'Malley, Tote spokesman Envoi Allen looks ideal for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and a range of top races in the future. He stands out a mile and backs up the imposing frame where it matters. Runner-up Abacadabras is no slouch, either. Drinmore winner Fakir D’Oudairies jumps like a bunny and looks an Arkle type, while Samcro’s jumping is a concern.
Amy Murphy's an awful judge by the sound of it.

re-match.

Over 2m, still offered profit to cash out of the JLT, so may do that, as I suspect Arkle is the target now, was waiting on a entry

• Joseph O'Brien believes Fakir D’Oudairies' greatest asset is his jumping as he lines up the exciting four-year-old for another top-level assignment... Read More

• Looking further ahead, O’Brien said: “As far as Cheltenham is concerned we’ll keep our options open as long as possible. It'll probably be the Arkle or the JLT, but it’s still a long way off and I’d imagine it'll be a late call.”

I reckon good to soft or 'worse' he'd be in the Arkle after reading that...

but obviously how he actually runs over Christmas is more likely to affect it.

It has to be at least Good/Soft on first day anyway so Arkle it is

I'd rather the better horse with a bigger engine that can make a mistake like alboum photo, than the brilliant jumper who needs absolutely everything to go right and hope the ones behind fall or blunder.
Would be very surprised if a rematch Scooby
After that race surely JOB wouldn’t expose Fakir to Samcro again over that distance?
Which horse will improve the most for that race?

How would you see Samcro versus Fakir over 2 miles?

Let’s not forget the age difference , 4 year old versus 7 year old and before anyone says please I know the weight concession

Great to see a very young pretender and equally great to see Samcro back

• Surely 2m only favours Fakir given the speed of his jumping?

When you look at it like that, he surely goes Arkle...and it should encourage Samcro and Laurina go JLT. Both have been shown up at 2 miles over hurdles, but they travel well and Samcro has won at the festival over 2 and a half.

I agree with Scooby, in a rematch, Samcro beats Fakir comfortably at 2 and a half. However at 2m, i’d call it very even, possibly with Fakir the choice.

Given all that, I think O’Brien is too canny to not play to Fakir’s strengths and therefore will stick him in the Arkle.

You can already hear Kevin Blake talking up his jumping and calling him an Arkle type on the FPP - I can sense that coming next time he's on.

Something like - Ah sure look, he's got all the tools. Deadly jumping at pace.
