Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

    • No mention of splitting Laurina up from other 3 in 2 mile division so looks likely she will stick at 2 1/2 miles +.

The other three really need to step up which would be the worry

And the fact that laurina has the mares races, so an automatic split for her. Rather than a conundrum.

Same, but with Betfair, that was really, really good.

              • I managed to get 50 a few minutes after too. Couldn’t believe it was still there! I know he was only carrying 11st 1lb, but Deutsche barely moved and he looked to have hell of a lot left under the bonnet. Travelled all over them too.

Off 137 today, which, in hindsight, was clearly wrong. Always difficult to say how good a horse is after that type of performance in that type of race. However, visually, the clock time, how he jumped and travelled... he looked like a graded horse in a handicap.

                • Should have been in here

I took 33/1 with PP due to a blip on their website app 5 mins after the race. They had 2 prices listed Fanion Destruval at 16s and Fanion d'Estruval at 33s. Someone will be getting a bollocking.

                  • .....interesting that Bet365 go shorter Fanion Destruval for the JLT (16-1) than the Arkle (20-1). Paddy Power, however, go 16-1 Arkle and 50-1 JLT.

                    • Having missed the 50/1 (so jealous of everybody that can watch racing all day every day )... I wanted that to not be very good... but it was the opposite, Fanion D'estruval looked really, really good

Not that it is an exact science by a long stretch, but a lot of nice owners had horses represented and visually it looks so good when one is running away appearing to be on the bridle.

Being a Venetia Williams horse the price won't be likely to collapse, as she's not as likely to have an Arkle winner as some of the better trainers than her.

Some nice horses have won that race today (Valdez, Knocknanuss and in particular Arzal who I really liked) which again doesn't mean loads but is a nice bit of filler to the arguement.

I really want to back him now. 20/1 seems an alright price, if I didn't know people had 50s I'd have done it already

                      • Having re-watched Fanion D'estruval I think it was a good performance although I can't help but be put off by his jumping somewhat. He really does get quite low into them and more than brushed through the top on many of them on the way around.
Im not sure how sustainable that will be at the very top flight. If I compare that to fakir who has a similar technique of being quite low but he was much better over his fences and just as quick.......maybe I'm just jealous because I didn't get any of the 50/1

                        • Just wondering what people make of Fakir going up in trip on Sunday, will he still be Arkle bound if he wins or goes close?

                          • Funnily enough, I’d just done the same and came to the same thoughts regarding the jumping shown today. However, the way he took the last flight was impressive, and bit more work at home on tidying up the technique/more consistent and I’d like to think we’d all get a good run for our money. I was more than happy to get on side at 20s.

Yes that's an excellent point that I noticed then completely ommited from my post....
There are two sides to that coin, the first being that its dangerous and he might 'tip up' but the other side is that he gets from A to B very bloody quickly!

He never seemed to lose momentum did he, but his shoulders are the first thing you see blasting through the tops.

Newbury fences are stiff aren't they?

I'm willing to forgive it for now? Dead close to backing him.
