  • Very well put Lobos. I’ve backed Laurina for the JLT as I think with her allowance and the hope the ground comes up soft she can do a Shattered Love and beat the boys over a distance that will play to her strengths. After just one race over fences I don’t think Samcro is bomb proof or unbeatable at this stage and there will be genuine challengers in both races if Angels Breath and Laurina’s performances over the weekend demonstrate. This is just a personal opinion and if I’m wrong then I’ve lost money as well as what is left of any credibility on this forum

    • Thomas Darby is racing tomorrow in the 1.30 at Kempton over 2.2 for those interested

      • He’s up against Master Tommytucker for Paul Nicholls.

        • Seen some words on Twitter that Felix Desjy may be back on his way to full fitness. I'll look to get some free bets on him I think.

Trip might be sharp enough for Tommy?

I thought The Big Bite was a decent price.

            informative race though.

            • Thomas Darby should win being match fit and over this sort of trip. But I'd expect Master Tommytucker to have more of an impact come Cheltenham. Thought he looked very good before his fall last season and TD was a bit disappointing fto over fences.

              • A bit like Master Debonair on Saturday I think Thomas Darby needs to put in a very good performance after his lukewarm debut otherwise I’m cashing out (I realise these kind of statements will not cause Richard Johnson & Olly Murphy any sleepless nights or worry!!) as I need to start cutting back on my selections for the Festival races as I could be the first punter to win every race and still post a loss!!

Far be it for me to be critical of your “scattergun “ approach but how do you record all your horses/bets?
                  ATR Tracker allows 500
We’ve most probably all been guilty at one time or another over the years to having been drawn into a race and before you know it as a profitable betting medium it’s a cut your losses scenario, especially pre 365 and Cash Out
I have the utmost respect for Scooby this Season who is probably one of the most disciplined punters on this entire sight, if not the most.
Good luck with your “ cutting back”

That's a bit like respecting a prisoner for not getting a suntan.
If Scooby had all the tools available to him, he'd use them.

Fair point, but purposely trying to cut down, with a big part of it, trying to avoid the dreaded injuries, theres always a huge amount and I'd normally be prime target.

as bad as it sounds come jan/ feb, I'll likely be using them to make a snap judgement on where I go in with what's left behind.

I think it's a completely different game/approach when all the 'tools' are not available. Compared to when they are.

I don't think I'd even bother much at all with antepost.
However good a judge anyone might think they are, it's just so difficult getting them there and in the right race that I think it's a tough job to make it pay.

Even with many of the tools available, I'm still only playing with small stakes most of the time, compared to a normal day or Saturday.

Without all the tools. I'd go back to playing the NRNB mostly and have very few other bets prior to that.
Although some of the information on this forum would be hard to ignore at times.
That's when the discipline would have to be sharpened up for me. And It's not one of my strong points.

                        • Managed to re-watch Laurina's effort over the weekend, as I only managed it on my phone intermittently as was moving house.

My take is she has plenty enough speed for this race with the ability to stay. Paul Townend had tight reigns in, suggesting she'd happily go quicker, and although she was only pulling away from a 3miler, it was still in the manner of a horse with plenty of pace.

For me, besides some multi's, it really doesn't matter which one of the two chases she ends up in, as have her for this and the JLT, but I'd be much more confident if she turned up here rather the JLT, assuming the opposition goes the way the market seems to suggest it will.

                          • Mullins says Laurina will be back out over Xmas. He's still to decide whether to stick at 2 1/2 miles, drop back to 2 or step up in trip. He will never change.

And why would he? He's been tolerably successful so far and it would be foolish to paint himself into a corner.

                              • It's about trusting and using your own judgement.

Hence why I've covered her for this and the JLT....
