  • Yeah I do get that, but then something is clearly amiss with the handicapping then.

The thing that get's me is that he can be rated higher than say Champ for winning handicaps, and Champ has won two Grade 1's (beating GT in one of them) and placed in one too, they're doing a massive disservice to the game if they are ranking handicap wins better than Graded races. Which is why I think it's embarrassing.

    • The official ratings of novices is tricky as the best will probably never run in a handicap until they’re on the decline.

      • Graded Races and Handicaps are often different tests. You could see Graded winners struggling to win of their rating in a handicap, due to possibly larger fields, stronger pace. Equally a horse rated high from handicap success may struggle when put into Graded races against a group of high rated horses.

Its one of the most interesting parts of the better quality racing, when horses move from one to the other.

I am not a GT fan for Grade 1 races yet, but that is probably because he hasn't had a lot of exposure in them. I am willing to change view, when the evidence is there in these early season Graded races though.

          • Basically the Betfair hurdle form all over again!

Both up in trip this season, I'm sure of it, and Trump couldn't even beat Not That Fuisse

            • Happy enough for a 1st run. On to the next race with him.

              • They are all definite novice jumpers!! Good win by Al Dancer, I think he needs to improve but I think he will get better. I think Getaway trump will improve, didn’t have the race fitness to compete up the hill

                • Doesn’t look like it. Sometimes hard what to make of it on first run over fences but wasn’t a wow factor to ad and getaway definitely needs further

                  • More than happy with that. Couple of slight mistakes by Al Dancer but overall a good round of jumping on debut. Getaway Trump probably blew up a bit there

                      not a good enough opener?

Should he manage to do so.
challow was falsely run and not a reliable piece of form.
Both Getaway trump and al dancer have unreliably high ratings based on good wins in poor handicaps.
Think they'll both struggle at championship level.

al dancer now 14-1 which is laughable.
                      bookies taking mickey.
and also noticed B365 screwing the cash out by going 33's on Trump.
                      interesting.

                      • I'll assess things when I can watch the race back but nothing inspiring from the comments here.

                          Al Dancer.

The trainer also added Cheltenham’s November meeting may come too soon for his six-year-old and the Arkle is the long-term target.

                          • Happy enough with my trade of Al Dancer, it's a free cover bet now on the exchanges, although I don't think he'll be good enough.

                              • Thought Getaway Trump jumped beautifully, travelled great, just looked to get tired there so wouldnt give up on him for the Arkle. I do wonder if he might get the famous PFN wind op, but thought it was a nice run considering he walks away with a 3 next to his name.
