I'm sure there's a load of horses that will never win at a festival for that reason. I agree it's a real shame in that respect, but if it means that there are fewer injuries / fatalities (shudder) by having some juice in the ground then I think we just have to accept that. There's plenty of people out there waiting and hoping for bad things to happen to try and get NH racing shut down.

Fingers crossed the 'no longer a 4 miler' (on the same day of course - which means even less likely to get quick ground imo unless it's a hot day with a rare old wind blowing across to dry things out) is an easier watch this year.

    • The terminology of "good" ground needs changing. Good should mean its perfect for NH horses.

If "good" is too firm, chance the fucking name of it so we don't look like complete morons to the outside world who take an interest for a few days.

Change the word 'Good' to 'Firm'

and get rid of 'Firm' as it is now, as 'unraceable'.

There won't be any Good to Firm festival races ever again........ then they can just call it Good. Or Firm.

Had to ring them direct, said won't be adding to online market until confirmed supplemented, stake limited but may not be for everyone. Not sure they'll have been hammered on it either as don't think they'll have had many requests.
They’ve either taken some enquiries/bets on this today or may have a view/potentially know something as people have alluded to before... both Paddy’s & BSP have added Cilaos Emery to the market today. Paddy’s are 7/1 NRNB, industry worst!

        • Is there any reason that bookies are only offering 2 places on the kingwell hurdle this weekend? There are ten entries BTW

They obviously expect less than 8 to be declared.
Common practice as they can offer any each way terms they please, to a certain extent, outside of handicaps in any case.

Shame really, I thought Elgin was a nice price around 7/1 if there had been 3 places.

                • Anyone like Thomas Darby NRNB at 16/1? 2nd in the Supreme, nightmare chasing when Olly's horses were a bit off. Back over hurdles in a handicap in the mud winning off top weight. Pic D'orhy was in behind that day and that went on to win the betfair hurdle. In what is a poor renewal I can see something like TD running well. Just got to turn up obviously.

I did this couple of days ago at 25s EW, though was not NRNB and think its a good shout....course form and as you say the ratings look good enough to put him in it.....specially as EW play

Was actually about to post a recommendation, but you beat me to it

Still think Epatante wins, unless one of BDD/Honey turn up.....but TD is still a great price compared to say Pentland Hills

Caught themselves on (slightly) pushed to 16s. Glad no numpty took the bait! Personally I would be wanting 20 minimum to get involved.

I thought he had a good chance of running well in this and was keen to back him but saw a video of Olly Murphy saying he wasn’t sure what the plan is for TD. Says the 2m4f race at Aintree is perfect and worried about a flat out 2m putting pressure on his jumping I believe. FWIW I still expect him to line up however.

                        • i see a lot of discussion around Supasundae placing as good value, surely the 20/1 (sky bet) about for Ballyandy is good each way value? i will be doing a place bet each day and at the moment i will be keen on BA in this.

No not really. The NRNB negates the obvious negative of unlikely to turn up, I just wouldn't have him as good enough, even in such a poor looking renewal

I wouldn't really say NRNB negates the idea of him not turning up. I don't think 16/1 prices in the horse lining up and the odds compilers might be asleep behind the wheel with this one. If confirmed by Olly (which in this poor renewal has to be in the back of his mind) he would probably contract to around 9/1. So if confirmed you could lay him off for a free bet. If he doesn't run... well then you get your money back.

You're right he might not be good enough, however he's relatively unexposed over hurdles and is only rated 1lb below the favourite. Watched that Supreme back a few times now and can't help but think a furiously run Champion Hurdle would play into his strengths, gutsy horse; the horse was reported to be lame after the race but still ran a blinder. 16/1 just strikes me as massive with a run
