It all hinges on the fitness of Saldier. whilst he is fit and well and willie is confident in him, then benie is not running here and Willie can easily dissuade Ricci (who, as the owner has more say then some people think).
The Vautour switch was quite obviously a Ruby riding thing, and them telling Ricci they though Djackadam was a good thing.
One report of an average workout for Vautour and he was persuaded.

Willie Mullins goes for the race they have the best chance of winning. That's just how he operates. The most winnable race for BDD is almost certainly the Mares race (with or without Honeysuckle) followed by the stayers followed by the Champion Hurdle. If RR hadn't said what he said the other day then this wouldn't even be a talking point as BDD has no hurdle form over two miles and placing her there would require WPM to abandon a lifetime habit of going for the most winnable race. Just an opinion but all noise and no substance for me.

Would this go for Honeysuckle though? I don't remember the owners or de Bromhead putting Honeysuckle up for the Champion Hurdle until it was a firm talking point in the media?

Re this race, the EW value is currently Supasundae at 33's.

Originally posted by charlie View PostI wasn't overly impressed with Honeysuckle. If she had pissed up, impressed us all and jumped like a Champion Hurdler then I think the more winnable race (with BDD in the Mares) could arguably be a tilt at the Champion Hurdle cause it lacks depth and BDD looks mustard. As she didn't really impress, connections have to believe she is much better over 2m5f which is effectively what they have said by announcing Mares, so even with BDD in the race, I still think the mares (and not this) is her best chance of winning, so same as BDD.

Solid graded form, clearly still running very well, puppy up top, decent course form, some decent spring ground and JH expecting him to come on big time for the run. Loads in his favor
