    • Now the dust has settled over Xmas and the DRF I am really hoping for a positive update on Saldier. The last update I can find was on January 15th where Willie said 'Saldier progressing nicely and heads straight to Champion Hurdle'. I think Patrick has made a few follow up comments on things here and there than endorse that view, but couldn't find anything. I really fancy him for this now having seen his market rivals. 6/1 NRNB looks tasty to me when I look at the horses he'll be taking on.

He just has a lovely profile. I loved the way he quickened in the Morgiana when Danny asked him to and they expect him to come on for that run (PM was keen to emphasize that Sharjah's G1 win over Xmas was a big form boost for Saldier). He jumps low and fast the way a champion hurdler should and to my eye looked to either have Espoir D'Allen's measure last year, or would have run him extremely close. Espoir D'Allen would be 6/4 to defend his crown vs this lot, and I think Saldier will now undoubtedly emerge as Willie's no1 for this race (providing he is fit). I expect him to be heavily fancied and talked up on preview nights and be steadily backed between now and March.

I don't think BDD will go and that's just RR talking shit. Having watched the race back a few times Honeysuckle didn't look good quite enough LTO and I think she will now be Mares bound.

Then there is Epatante. To use the not so infamous words of Mark 'the Couch' Winstanley: 'if I had a choice of backing Epatante at 11/4 for the Champion Hurdle, or a flu jab from Harold Shipman, I'd say be careful with the needle doctor'.

Joe Chambers was on the racehour podcast on Friday just gone charlie. Said Saldier is fine and working well. Has been back in work for a while and at a push could have made the DRF but they decided to go straight to Cheltenham. Was enough to get me to back at 6/1 NRNB.

Cheers Jono, although I am inclined not to trust a word that man says, but good to know.

Saldier has been and still is my biggest single win bet for the festival, I played the 'any race' though at 22/1 as at the time I was unsure if they were going to be going over fences or not, I just knew I really liked the horse from his juvenile debut and then his G1 win at Punchestown.

The way he was travelling against Espoir D'Allen further enhanced my opinion of him.

I've only heard positive updates and just hope he makes it there all fine.

Couldn’t agree more on Saldier and given the comments of being back and working well couldn’t ask for more at 6/1 NRNB.

He’s been forgotten obviously because of the slight injury/setback but imo he has to be the one to beat. Can’t have any of Hendos even Epatante getting the allowance. Agree Honey and BDD look to do battle in the mares.

Tasty Tuesday double of Saldier with BDD

They probably also decided to go straight to the Festival as his record fresh is 11F. The “F” being the race where he looked to have Epatante covered as previously discussed.

                    • I reckon honeysuckle would of won that morgiana in the soft ground at punchestown..shes won the other day after a dodgy last hurdle losing momentum and in ground she doesnt favour

                      • “Nothing is set in stone but we’re still leaning towards the Mares’ Hurdle with Honeysuckle.

“The main reason is that two and a half miles is her optimum trip. She’s top-class over two and a half miles and we want to do what’s best for the mare at Cheltenham.”

And there goes cash out with bet365... ba****rds
