Hello Fat Jockeys,

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

  • City Island was pulled up on his chasing debut at Leopardstown last week after jumping poorly and Brassil said: "He was fine after his run at Leopardstown on Friday. We were quite happy with him going there for his first run over fences but he seemed to lose his confidence at the second last and made a bad mistake.*

“He was lucky to stay standing and was pulled up. We'll give him another school and look for another beginners' chase. There's no plan at this stage to go back hurdling with him."

    • Atleast I don’t need to go looking for my stayers slips then

      • Thanks Scooby, I was sweating on a possible return to hurdles. He’s still got time to improve before March but they won’t have time to keep him tucked away like they did last year in preparation for the Ballymore or just bypass Cheltenham

        • Tomorrow’s RP front page: Champion Hurdle option for rising star Envoi Allen

Little substance in the actual article though so a little misleading.

It's an option yes, but not one that they will take. Wait until 2021.

Cheers Scooby. Could still yet do the Buveur D’air route with two novice chases and straight to the Champion Hurdle haha.

I’d be incredibly surprised if he’s still running over hurdles next season. He was bought fo chasing and trying to win a Gold Cup.

If he stays unbeaten over hurdles this season I'd be amazed if he went chasing instead of targeting this in 2021.

                  • Think Elliot might have learned his lesson with Samcro, although EA looks the pacier of the two. Saying that Samcro looked like a Lamborghini in his novice hurdling year as well.

EA and Samcro completely different beasts for me

                      • Think it will depend what Cheverly Park think, Elliott will obviously advise but down to the owners as well.

He has been bought to win chases so that may be an easy decision for the owners, anything he does this year will be a bonus. Obviously if they think he is clearly good enough would they rather try to win a champion hurdle and delay his chase career or go for one of the novice chases and get him chasing straight away.

The recent story is just journalists filling column inches. Gordon will decide.

                          • Anyway we’re sidetracking from this year and surely Envoi will not go for this race.

Really is wide open this year, as a couple have alluded to I could see someone’s novice chase career reverting back. BVD proved it can be done.

If he doesn't win the Irish champion with Saldier, or he gets hurt and don't make the festival. I can see this happening.
Not sure they'd be totally happy to go to war with a loopy horse and sharjah only.
She could prep in the same race Annie did (the quevega hurdle).
