I'd say that if anyone hasn't got any of the current market leaders at fancier prices then wait till nearer the day and just try and back the winner from those.
Aside from the Irish champion hurdle there will be very little further evidence (aside from injuries) still to come.
You sound like Jim Lahey from Trailer Park Boys with your Shit analogy Q.....

It’s like trying to pick a turd to keep you afloat in a sewer trying to get onboard any horse currently in this market. If he drifts a bit more I’ll be backing Silver Streak as he has placed twice this year in decent races and this race is his target. He’s a tough horse that is more than capable of a place at present but I’m steering away from this race as I’ve got Sadler & Sharjah covered.

    • i'm finding this a bit of a puzzle this year as well, even started considering horses like Gumball!
Does anyone know what the plan is with Band of Outlaws?

        Probably both county.

        Either would have zero chance.

He has never ran on ground anywhere near that soft, and just ran like a drain. i wouldnt be pleased at all if I was on at short prices. But at current prices, I'd be willing to wipe that run off, where he just without doubt, diddnt run his race.

Im not saying hes a sure fire CH winner, but i'd give him every chance, to win either the kingwell or the contenders hurdle, and Go back to the sort of price that he was.
I think at the prices you got on the exchange. It's worth a pop.

          but Ignoring current prices.
I don't like the ground excuses myself.

The Epatante form is very good and she is clearly improving fast.
Then the Mullins horses appear to have sorted themselves out into the two Ricci horses.
Barring one of the mares coming here, you'd say that those three are worthy market leaders.

Because these horses are far from solid though, it is not out of the question that something else could pop up and run better than we've seen so far and get competitive. on the day.

But after last years race I can see why people are searching.

Band of Outlaws looks like he is being laid out for the County.
Nearly backed it last night but holding back for now.

With FR once again I'm not saying hes the winner in waiting,
But if theres one thing that he does, he stays, and very well at that.
So I'd be almost certain he diddnt run his race as he went out like a light. Found nothing off the bridle, And was rightly pulled up when he just wasn't going.

Time will tell, how good he is. But that wasn't his best running for sure.

that was my thoughts as well, unless they're giving an ex flat horse an easy run up to the CH. He covered the last two hurdles quicker than anything at the festival last year, would give him a squeak in this, amongst a very average crop of 2 milers

                • On the opposite scale, epatante was seriously impressive, and without doubt the rightful fav
They've wrapped her in cotton wool now, understandably so.. but for a keen going sort, I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do.

The CH is not currently as bad as that, where something like B.O.O would have a chance.

looks an average renewal to me. i'm looking at bigger prices even at this stage of the season. i think is Epatante is far too short, xmas hurdle was a poor race

That would be a worry for Epatante supporters especially in a champion hurdle.
She'll probably need it to be a good pace, which it usually is.
She has seen out her races this season really well though, so it may just be a visual thing and she's actually conserving energy just fine.
Might be a different story at Cheltenham though.

                        • I really like Sharjah for this and thought he would have run a mighty race last year but surely the ground is a worry. He seems to need decent ground to show his best form. Even if it remains dry through out the run up to Cheltenham they’ll always water so it’s usually on the softer side of good especially for the first day........does this put anyone else off backing him?

                          • This season bears all the hallmarks of the years when a horse has appeared late on the scene. When Sublimity won the CH his seasonal reappearance was on 27 January and when Buveur D'Air switched from chases his first hurdle race of the season was on 4 February. Interestingly, both had made the first 4 in the previous season's Supreme.

That being said, off good to soft, he’s still afffective and is a very solid animal. For antepost purposed though, he’s hard to back with the great English weather potentially scuppernong his chances.
To avoid any confusion Saldier = Sharjah.

                              Cracking write up though fella.
