  • As has been muted before, I think the next time we will see Saldier will be in the Churdle itself. As a backer, I'm more than happy with that as he clearly runs well after a long break.

No he shouldn't be, but as we know with plenty of previous. Taking Ruby's word for something isn't always wise. Hence my initial point. He didn't say a word with Lydia, and that's fine.

      Quevega you love speculation

        Some silly speculation really.
A horse not being quite right or the trainer not being quite happy is a different thing to an injured horse. You'd assume they do checks for anything underlying.
And Willie has shown great restraint with horses coming back from injury in the past and is probably just minding him really.
He did get his nose caved in the time before.
I see it as a good sign in that Willie minding him means they know he's one of the better ones.

Should we not see him again through injury. I don't think it's anything being kept from us. Although the doomsday merchants will be saying I told you so.

There'll be some twat in New Zealand sat on a street corner right now telling all and sundry that he knew the Volcano was ready to blow.

        I changed C**t to twat.
To be fair I couldnt of been clearer with my interpretation of the situation and if he is ruled out with injury Ill try and resist the temptation of I told you so lol. But at the risk of entering the C**t or T**t category ill probably just keep quiet. Im surprised that more people dont see this as a bigger negative. I do hope im way off the mark though for those who are on him at bigger prices and for the quality of the race I want the best horses to turn up. Ive already layed off on the exchanges.

        • Are Saldier backers not slightly concerned how he ran in the triumph a few years back ??? Personally wouldn’t be getting massively excited about his last win and would fully expect Klassical dream to reverse that result with relative ease round Cheltenham. Just can’t warm to the horse to be honest.

Not in the slightest. He had only ran once the month before for Mullins- has proven twice, even with the fall he has progressed his form.

Billy, not every horse of Mullins that has had a setback or is not pleasing, is out for the season. Why is Saldier different here?

            • Just looking at Klassical dream last season he clearly got better with every run. First couple of runs last year wouldn’t have got anyone’s pulse racing but the way he finished the season really was very impressive. Think he’ll be very hard to beat if he follows the same path this term.

              • Not necessarily disagreeing with that Kauto, just the Cheltenham point.

He was impressive in what we now know to be an unimpressive supreme, and supreme winners have a poor record in the Champion Hurdle the following season. He followed up in a weak looking grade 1 at Punchestown but I don't think he had to improve to win that, and he's lost on his first attempt in open company. I have no doubt he'll come on for the run and that could put him right there class wise, but I'd need to see it first before getting involved.

The first three haven't run well this year, but there's enough in behind to say it's not a surefire awful Supreme.

Klassical Dream needs to perform, of course, but TD hasn't taken to chasing, Itchy Feet has only raced once since. Fakir looks ok so far over fences, Felix is injured. Aaron still to come. Angels Breath looks ok to.

Think it's too early for me to be certain over in Supreme form.

Because of the excuse that he gave "Saldier didn't come out of his Morgiana win as well as we had hoped and as I'm not 100 per cent happy with him, we decided not to enter him for Leopardstown,”

That was over 3 weeks before the race, that suggests to me that there is more to it. They throw entries round like confetti, so for them not to enter him on the back of that suggests that theres more to it to me. People read it how you like but they are not entering him in a grade 1 that he would be entitled to go very close in and it will of been targeted by them. Look at Nickys comments last week about Angels Breath and how quickly hes back to himself in 7 days. Ok that really is the last from me on this!!!! promise lol
In fact got my bets for the race now baring possibly FR so I wont be adding to the thread. Good luck all

They werent 100% happy with him so didnt run him at Chelt, then did a bit of work a few days later and now there delighted with him.

It depends what they aren't 100% happy with obviously!

                            • Not sure if anyone is interested but one of the lads was chatting to Fergal in the Royal oak (Cheltenham) on Friday night and is hoping to get Quick Grabim ready for this, apparently he seemed pretty confident. Massive price but obviously got injured last year but didn't seem back to his best when he returned.

                              • Been trying to get him matched on the exchanges but somehow I’ve only been matched for 19p. Didn’t even know that was possible
