Is anybody else surprised by that? If he won the Triumph he could be a new stallion on the block. I believe that was the plan for Sir Eric, just seems strange that it isn’t even a question. As much as the owner doesn’t need the money I would think it would be tempting
Maybe some black type on the flat would cause a rethink ?

I'm often surprised at the low price of breeding fees for some very good horses, you can have classic winners cover your mare for £5k or less, this gives you more.

The National Stud is unique in that it offers both first class breeding services and renowned training courses and facilities for those embarking on a career in the Thoroughbred breeding industry.

So Solo's breeding value would be extremely limited...

        • He likened Solo to Masterminded over the weekend.

That rating looks spot on to me

            Hurricane Fly.

What an interesting site that is with some great images.

We visited the Irish National stud last summer and was almost worth every penny except I leaned on the paddock rail to give Hurricane Fly a stroke and found myself stuck to the creosote by my sleeve on a brand new jacket

              • Wave.

At the minute it looks like he’ll be more likely to run in the Triumph Hurdle than the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle. It was a bit of a surprise to see him win last time, but the race was run to suit and Barry gave him a great ride. Stamina is his forte and the Triumph should play to those strengths. He would prefer better ground.

                Cerberus.

It looks like he’ll run in the Triumph Hurdle. He was a bit unlucky the last day. It looked like he was sure to win after Aspire Tower fell and left him clear at the last, but he just pulled himself up. I don’t think he’s ungenuine, it was probably just a shock for him to be left by himself all of a sudden facing into a big crowd. He’s never done anything like that before. Soft ground suits him well.

                • Was thinking. It looks like everyone of JP McManus trainers has a horse for this race this year. How many runners is he gunna have ffs?

He has A wave of the Sea JOB
                    Cerberus JOB
                    Mick Pastor PN
entered in both Triumph and Boodles

then add Aramax GE, only entered in Boodles and probably fav for that
It will depend on Frank Berry decision and not what the trainers say
Paul Nicholls would probably like MP to go for Boodles as he has 2 higher rated horse in Solo and Sir Psycho for the Triumph.
In an ideal world I would think JOB would like at least 1 of his to go Boodles ( they ain't good enough to win Triumph)
So its JP snakes and ladders
Personally I would like Cerberus in Boodles/MP in Triumph and AWOTS anywhere
As an aside I have backed Sir Psycho for the Supreme @ 45/1 on this Magic Roundabout

                    • Andy Holdings tip - Sir Psycho (18/1)

                      Now only 14/1

                      • Question
How many FJs believe that the handicapper got it right in his assessment of Solo at an OR of 157.
First vote I think he is wrong by 10lb

He’s a good horse pendil but putting him on 167 would make him GOAT juvenile hurdler

On a serious note I’d say he’s about 5lb too high based on the limited evidence but he had know where else to go after giving him such a high rating initially on his French form. I do think he’s very good though & will prove to be a 170+ horse in time (Likely over fences)

                          • Timeform certainly think differently to the handicappers, with their ratings revised after the weekend as listed below.

The Adonis is often won by a wide margin, by what looks a world beater, who can’t back that up 20 days later in the Triumph.
So for now, with Timeform, Solo has a seat at the top table, rather than a super-top table all of his own.

This feels more sensible, until the Triumph is run, and we know which one to anoint as the Champion Juvenile.

                            JUVENILE HURDLERS
                            148p GOSHEN
                            145 ASPIRE TOWER
                            144p ALLMANKIND
                            144p SOLO
143 A WAVE OF THE SEA
                            142 WOLF PRINCE
                            141 CERBERUS
                            140 NORDANO
                            137p BOTOX HAS
                            137 MICK PASTOR

Completely agree. To give a horse a 157 rating after one run is outrageous. Especially when you consider the horse he beat was arguably a non trier with the boodles in mind. No doubt he looks a horse with great potential but 157 is wild

I wouldn’t say FF was a non trier Anfield.

The owners currently don’t have no standout pick for the triumph yet so she was very much going to win the Adonis imo.

Had she done so would be aiming at this race for sure. The owners have tried about 5/6 horses through the season that haven’t lived up to any hype, this was potentially one of their last darts other than something that hasn’t been seen yet.
