  • What are people's thoughts on the Irish race? Going definitely looked heavy and Battle of Wills was very taking on the eye before curling up coming around the bend.

Burning Victory jumped like a dog but definitely had a lot of pace - and stamina - on the flat. Shortening to 14s seems reasonable but would you be put off Battle of Wills on better ground?

I personally don't really like any of the Irish horses, I don't think they have a good hand in the triumph this year....

With the race just now it didn't look great on paper, burning jumped horribly and still managed to win with a 40/1 shot in 2nd....probably tells you all you need to know.

FF French form was solid and she was very well fancied today, and backed in for this accordingly. She's being driven to beat a horse rated 126 in receipt of 2lbs. That makes it entirely reasonable to think she has not given her true running.

        • Seriously hoping that Mick Pastor goes to the Boodles as I have him kn an an e/w double with Solo both horses at 20-1. Counting chickens I know but I also believe I'm the only one with Solo in the AP tipping comp. As I said previously I was hoping Solo might be our Triumph hurdle redemption for PicD'Orhy last year. Fingers crossed.....

          • Have to take it on the chin , wasn't on Solo for triumph , he will take some beating thats for sure. Its the connections positive comments afterwards that was striking. 3/1 value? , im not so sure though. Good luck to those on at bigger odds.

            • Solo, looked relaxed and professional throughout, and did it easy.
Looks the one to beat as most of the others have something a little quirky about them.
However, we've only seen him the once and the ones he beat might be shite enough. Or ran shite at least.

              • Looked impressive. Time was markedly slower than the Kingwell and with Goshen and Allmankind in the Triumph, the pace won't be as slow as today.

                • Has Solo always made the running or was the just out of circumstance today? If there is one race that doesn't need another front runner it's this one!

Raced handy in both starts. Took the lead fairly early in his win.

                    • Solo was very impressive, just managed to watch it.

Very relaxed and jumped really well other than the second hurdle think it was (got a bit close).

2 cracking chasers for next season in solo and pic.

Nicholls from preview evening last night "MP also a good juvenile , Hes rated 140 and that could look attractive for The Boodles"

Sounds positive , today probably cemented that opinion ,good luck.

                        • Personally think it’s an over reaction. 3/1 for beating a horse that we all know very little about. Just a gut feeling all is not as it seems, as much as I’m looking for a horse to latch onto in the Triumph, this will defo not be the one for me at the prices.

                          • Can somebody explain what they mean by Jacob giving FF a bad ride please?

Im not being a knob, I've watched it back and I can't see how a better ride would have changed the position at all?

Agree with you Kev, yes he was on the inside but not as if he was stuck there, plenty of daylight when they got into the straight and was being worked pretty hard by then anyway.

If people say that and it would have made no difference had he not been to the result can’t say it’s a bad ride imo.

She’ll have to learn to jump fairly rapid but she stayed on very well despite that in bottomless ground. I wanted an outside chance flyer in this that will be held up off the pace so hopefully that’s her boat ticket booked!
