Super excited about him I am, unlike many on here
Fair play to sticking to your guns COD. No surprise who I like and it would be bloody boring if we all agreed, and I can understand why people like Goshen. May the best freak win (the horses, not you and me )

Haha no one will get me off Goshen, not least since I also know the owner, through business, so the heart and head wants him to win now, bad place to be when the heart is involved

May the best freak win indeed

        He has a cracking engine.

Unfortunately he can’t jump. And being able to jump is paramount to winning at Cheltneham - let alone in a Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle where they can often go a proper gallop from the start.

I mean, only the eight hurdles, with the first pretty much straight away after the off, that Pentland Hills nearly unseated Nico at last season.

I don't put so much onus on his jumping, as the hurdles are fairly spaced out, which means it comes down to speed and stamina for me.

Besides all that, as noted previously, his jumping goes to pot when either early on in a race, or when racing alone. His jumping alongside other horses has not been as bad IMO.

Certainly one of the most intriguing races of the festival which I can't wait for.

          • Wonder how bet365 will price up the jollies and rags on the day on this race. Likely to get Goshen, Allmankind and Aspire tower against the field. One for an accum if not stupid short

The 2nd that finished behind Flyer over in France has finished 1st in a couple of races over in France including a Grade 2 race. No idea though how good French horses can be. Fujimoto Flyer is meant to have a race coming up around 22nd February I think for a run before the festival. I also watched its last run and it just looked like it had a lot of acceleration and that can come in handy like a track at Cheltenham. Thought I'd get people's thoughts on Fujimoto Flyer, its around 20/1 NRNB on skybet
She has been very impressive at both Killarney and Auteuil with the seconds winning next time out. Both wins were on softish ground (she was pulled out of her most recent engagement due to heavy ground) but, supposedly, she would prefer better ground. Now owned by Munir and Souede and the shortest price of the four they have in a race they like to target. She seems to be coming to herself and is a horse I would fancy very strongly if she turned up here. 20/1 NRNB is a very good price.
If only Danny Mullins could keep the ride!!

And if only she doesn't plant her feet at the start and refuse to race. Deffinately something to bare in mind.

                • Of the 4 mullins entries which do we think will run in this?

Surely no way that none of them run so I am half expecting a couple of entries next week.

Echoes in rain is the only one to have had a run. All 4 are 40/1 with 365 nrnb, which for a trainer of mullins stature surely screams value? Apart from last year, had placed horses in the previous 3 years.

What sort of whip do they use at the start in France?

I remember the long vs short whip in Ireland was used as a reason why Labaik had no issue starting in the Supreme

A bit similar to Pentland in that he’s an ex flat handicapper making his debut in Feb fairly low key. Might be worth a NRNB tickle. Like that flat form with Sir Ron Priestley personally...
Declared at Market Rasen on Sun - Sean Bowen jocked up...looks a weak enough affair on paper

Is a long way from down here in Sussex, up there, to then not run, so can understand the reasoning. Will get there fairly fresh, almost 2 months from previous run.

Yes, but he hasn't come off the bridle nor has be had to jump at proper racing speed which is a slight concern.
He has been taught to race from the flat of course so that is a small offset, but I'd love him to have been asked the question and sprinted away from pattern class opposition...

That's the mystery I guess. I'm plenty happy enough with him, and as you alluded too, he's been asked questions on the flat and responded this season, so it's not of great concern for myself.
