Specials - #Yourodds Cheltenham Festival ( scroll down to Over 100/1 and it's second from bottom there)

On mobile the over 100-1 odds are randomly in the middle and with there being only 4 I missed them first time.

Longhouse poet (NH chase) Fakiera (Any race) Mohaayed (Pertemps) Quilixios (Triumph hurdle) Melon (Ryanair) All to finish in top 4
Love the bet Ray - I'm on board, thanks a lot.

My big concern is Melon because I still feel Willie wants to run him in the Gold Cup. How about asking for the same bet with Melon "any race" or Melon in the GC. What do you think?

Whether it's GC or Ryanair Melon's got a solid chance of finishing top four - but it would be tragic if this bet fell down because Willie chose the slightly less likely option.

Although IMO it's probably 50-50 as to which race he runs in.

I can't be held responsible for that

I genuinely wouldn't worry. They will go for the race they think they will most likely win and that's the Ryanair. The JLT shows that trip round Cheltenham is his bag and I can see off what we saw a few weeks ago why they'd feel confident over further with the hill

              • Sorry Charlie but I beg to differ.

Melon travelled unbelievably well in the Savills Chase and would have won had Patrick not hit the front way too soon. As it was he finished 1 1/2 lengths bhind APT who is now second favourite for the GC.

I think Willie believes he could win the GC with Melon and wants to give it a go.

By my reckoning his chances in the GC would be at least equal to his chance in the Ryanair.

I'm such a dinosaur I still don't know how to request these specials but I'm happy to give it a go if needs be.

Would the owners want to run Melon against ABP though and potentially stop him winning 3 GC's in a row? They will surely fancy their chances of winning both the Ryanair and the GC with these two won't they?

Patrick would have used up more petrol trying to restrain him. Entries for the Irish Gold Cup close today and I'd expect most of Willie's from the Savills to be in there again. If Melon wins there I'd say the Gold Cup is still on. If he doesn't, the Ryanair, which is currently probably the favoured option, will in my opinion be a near certainty if ABP is fit and firing.

This issue has been discussed pretty fully in another thread recently so I'll keep it brief.

You may well be right CCM.

But we are talking the Gold Cup here.

And all I'm saying is that on the basis of what Willie has said since last year's Festival it is still a distinct possibility Melon will go for the GC.

The cost of covering that eventuality is pretty small compared to the potential reward.

Yes it has, didn't want to drag it up again! Fair enough. He just doesn't strike me as a grinder who will relish 3m2f personally. Good luck!

Point taken Archie. Wasn't meaning to have a pop at Patrick. I like him and he's ridden some terrific hold up races at the Festival.

Ruby said after the Savills that Melon was running like a two/two-amd-a-half miler with the choke out and will have learned a lot from the experience ....ie he will settle better next time he tackles 3 miles.

Whether or not he does settle will probably be key to deciding his Festival target.

My concern would be where Quilixios ends up. Duffle Coat will be rated higher than Quilixios after Adagio winning (and now up to 146), which means Duffle Coat will end up in the Triumph. Surely Quilixios, on 141, could still end up in the Boodles?
