Similar to a few I lost 5 across skybet and Hills and a couple of them were looking good value as well. Unfortunately there'll be more to come but let's hope for everyone on here there not too high profile.

I've just had to take on staff to help me update my lost bets column after Easywork and Ferny Hollow
I'm new to antepost this far out, is Christmas generally a time for taking a bit of a hit given the Christmas racing programme marks a bit of checkpoint?

I suppose its when they starting ramping up the horses work to prep for the races

I did claim I would learn my lesson and hold out until NRNB but I’ve laid 28 RABs already so I’m sure it will be the same outcome this March!!

I had the Samcro / Envoi one and a Champ, Honeysuckle and another which escapes my memory at 55/1 running onto Pinatubo for the Guineas. I don’t mind throwing the free bets or a tenner here and there at them for a big of fun

It's always good to keep an even mind over these things. The multiple inflated odds in a portfolio easily make up for the reversals so take it as par for the course. It's good to try and get out ahead of the game where you can though.
When you get the bad news though always take a fresh look at the race and see what you can do to re-strengthen your position, or even completely rebuild the race. If you've got a position on most of the races it's sensible to, your overall book isn't suffering too much.
The four weeks leading up the Festival are always the most difficult though, because trainers are trying to get their horses hard fit, and that's when injuries most likely occur, that an in races themselves.Last edited by Spectre; 21 December 2020, 11:46 AM.Luck is a dividend of sweat. Just seen one with Sky that I quite like the look of at 100/1:
Paisley Park (Stayers)
Sir Gerhard (Champion Bumper)
Minella Indo (to place Gold Cup)
Politologue (to place QMCC)
Possibly influenced by the fact that I haven't got Paisley Park in the book and 7/2 is too short for me to get involved, but think the other three - particularly Politoogue to be placed are pretty solid. Mathematically, I don't think 100/1 is outrageous value, but I really like the look of it and have had half a point on.

It's stopping me getting too heavily involved in any races actually...I don't want the double whammy of Festival-Bubbles-Burst with Festive-Bets-Burst!
Feels like losing twice, of course, getting the feeling of winning twice is great, when you back one that also hardens up.....but I think I'm going to be dull and not back anything I've backed ante post, and also try not to throw money away having 'savers' on things.
IMO, the DRF is now more of a focus and expecting a horse to peak now, when they have Feb/March to worry about is not perfect prep.
