Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

  • I'd have preferred Royale Pagaille to be scratched than Longhouse Poet

Now it's this close, I'm all for a walk over

      • Who can ride in this race? Is it conditionals or everyone?

          • It’s very selfish I know but I really hope Royal Paguille stays away from this race. He will spoil everyone’s fun as I doubt anyone has him at a big price other than in To Win Today bet? Disappointed Longhouse Poet is not involved, he was my big play after Galvin. Is he injured or the trainer can’t be arsed with the hassle over coming over??

I’m glad I bagged Lord Royal when I did, so can see this race having less than 10 runners, I still think Snow Leopardess will be a dark horse, solid form and a very shrewd trainer

The stupid part is gambling on Fairyhouse coming up soft.....very risky strategy surely given it's April 5th.

              • I think not being able to travel over must be playing a significant part for some.

I liked what Davy said today, where he was fuming that was a valid reason and said Cheltenham is Cheltenham...... but during the same preview he mentioned horses skipping Cheltenham for other targets potentially.

                • Expecting Royal Pagaille to be very short for this with some Tuesday multiples of Appreciate It, Shishkin and Concertista ending in him for the favourite backers.

Perosonally, I’m not having him at 6/4 in a novice chase over 3m6f where all 15 of his runs have been on soft or heavy as well as predominantly flat tracks. And yet this will be probably good to soft with two laps of an undulating track. I could be talking out my arse but for me, he’s the one horse at 6/4 or shorter all week I actively want to take on. That being said, he’s about 2 stone ahead of the next horse in the ratings so I won’t be laying him. I’ll just hope for Galvin to beat him. Can’t help but be disappointed with the campaign of Dickie Diver. Called the race for him at the start of the season and got 33s, connections then come up out and say they will aim him at the race, he looks good on his reappearance and they spend 4 months pissing about with him and fail to get him qualified. A shitshow from Henderson.

All favs won’t win as we know it is Cheltenham and this is the one i hope falls flat on it’s face having backed Galvin, Lord Royal ew & Longhouse (ouch)

You are spot on regarding the conditions and the track with him he is one i can see being boosted and taken on all day and be around 11/4 or so.

Galvin has had this planned for a long time as we know and i hope and think it will pay off, he was impressive in October here with his best work late on, will Power ride again? I hope he does seeing we can’t have Codd now.

                    • Richard Pugh on the Tattersalls preview last night thad no hesitation tipping up Royal Pagaille for the Gold Cup. IMO he'll still go for the big one regardless of conditions.

Gutted too. B365 suspended my cash out 3 weeks ago on him when he wss still coming, 40s with them. I can see no reason why they couldnt get a run into him other than they never intended to, surely this show on him coming here wasnt purely for their sponsors benefit was it?

The Fav’s have a poor record in this race too, so I’m happy for RP to turn up as a pace maker to Galvin for him to cruise past the Royal Pig after the last. The longer RP stays in the market the better the prices for the rest of the field and more places available so hopefully connections will leave their decision to the last minute for Antepost place purposes

It was Richard Pugh though so not your every day preview tipster spraying bullets everywhere. Quite significant I'd say .

                              • With regards the Pig I think we’ll know fairly early on whether he’s going to be in the mix or not. He’ll either take to the track or he won’t, he’ll either be comfortable on the ground or he won’t.

I can’t see a situation where he’s up with the leaders coming down the hill and isn’t in the shake up at the end. He’ll either be so far back by then he hasn’t a cat in hell’s chance or he’ll be pulled up. If he’s still up with the leaders coming down the hill, he’s going to win or go darn close.
