Does look an out and out Stayer and jumps so well so I can see him running a big race.

The fact he's trained by David Pipe puts me off so much

I do quite rate Demachine though and he did put him away nicely.

That 20s NRNB has gone....can still get 18s with Ladbrokes....

I've got such a strong position with Galvin I feel like I'm being forced into covering all the dangers

I do like the fact Tom Scu is a positive over whatever amatuer they'd have secured.

      Sorely tempted.

      • I still think many at the head of this race market won’t be coming here so I’ve backed two more outsiders in

Golan Fortune 33/1 - had 3 decent runs this season, most notably his 4th in the novice Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day. He’s ran and won at Cheltenham before and could place again in a race that should suit.

Lord Royal 25/1 I was surprised Mullins confirmed this was the race he was being aimed at. Ran much better LTO and could be a huge price with an experienced jockey on board to get him in to a nice rhythm with his jumping.

              • Escaria Ten tipped up on Sporting Life

Matt Brocklebank turns his attention to Cheltenham's National Hunt Chase and reckons Gordon Elliott can add to his impressive record in the race.

                • Little bit surprised to see Galvin's odds shortened after today's news tbh, in as short as 3/1 in places and on the exchange.

                    That is odd isn't it.

As a backer, I'm pleased to see it...but it seems misguided.

Jamie Codd is a huge positive relative to others.

Jack Kennedy is top class, but the eddge he has isn't wotth as much it'd be with Codd in.

Probably down to most of the others around him being unlikely to run ? The first horse behind him in the betting likely to run is Longhouse Poet.

Yep that makes sense. Hopefully LP gets Mark Walsh

                        • Said this a few leeks ago but Latest Exhibitions owners and trainer must be getting very tempted to run especially if lord Pagaille doesn't run and a few others that are at the front of the market. Makes sense that they are leaving their options open. Unless I missed something?

Cooper can still ride which is a bonus as he seems a big part of the yard. Certainly won't get a better chance than this for a win at Cheltenham especially when they have said they will be aiming him at the Gold Cup next year.

IMO Latest Exhibition is a class above the rest of the field. A win at Cheltenham would be a huge boost for Nolan and think it will be too good an opportunity to turn down. He's good value NRNB at 6/1. Surely goes off fav if he runs? Obviously the trip is a bit of an unknown but that's the same for nearly all of them. Owner couldn't have went much closer to winning this race with Discorama so he's not against running in this race.

The closest he's got to Monkfish is over 3m and if they are aiming at the GC next year then I think they should take in the RSA, see where they stand at Cheltenham with a view to the following year. The class angle rarely rings true in this race, and as a low 150's horse he's not far ahead of Galvin at all, and behind RP. I can see why they might be tempted, and he would have a good chance, but I don't think he'd go off fav.

Ryanair Novice Gold Cup at Fairyhouse would be the more preferred IMO. Its a Grade 1 to begin with, NHC is a G2. Yes, prize money is a little less for the RGC, but it cuts out the added cost and stress of sending a team to Cheltenham. Its run over 2M4F so you're not flogging the horse. It's probably easier to win also as in Paul Nolan's mind, outside of Monkfish and EA, there isn't a better staying novice chaser in UK & Ireland than his fella - right now, his main competition could be Andy Dufresne and/or Asterion Forlonge.
                              .
They know he stays 3M on the new course and can perform at Chelt already via the AB.

                              • What with so many of the top ones looking unlikely and the ground drying up the chances of Royal Pagaille coming here shouldn't be underestimated - with a resulting 10% hole in the gold cup market.
My play has been to take Ladbrokes 11/4 nrnb and double it up with a couple in the Gold Cup.
Nice insurance for those that don't want his grubby ass in this race (myself included)
