Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

But if CPS loses on the Wednesday at least he still has hope that come the Friday he may be celebrating his biggest win ever in a race he has been so close to hitting.

It's a strange one for me.
Have to say as soon as his talents become known/obvious I always expected him to land here or Browns Novice Chase.
It's not often novices, especially chasers, get sent to open championship races and he wouldn't have been on anyone's radar last Autumn, twelve months ago he was getting slammed at Huntingdon by a 134 rated novice of Ben Paulings.
He's a 7yo and has time on his side, has to be the right decision...

    • I see Dickie Diver wasn’t declared and although he is entered on Wednesday I doubt he would run twice in a week?

Unless he just runs in the RSA now?

Henderson will probably try and argue that his racecourse gallop in preparation for this was over 2m7 so should qualify him

        • Im not sure Royal P is good enough to win this race never mind a gold cup

          • In a year where there is not much point in 'going for the day out' we seem likely to have a lot of small fields. That's expected in races like The Arkle, RSA, QM for example, but can anybody pick out 8 runners likely to contest this race? I think it's another small field.

I can see RP, Galvin, LHP, Lord Royal, Remastered, St Barts & another 2 or 3? Reckon it’ll be no more than 12 runner field

6-4 seems incredibly skinny for a horse which hasn't run at Cheltenham and whose only run at an undulating track in the UK was a loss to Vision Des Flos. If you had a tenner left in your account would you put it on RP at 6-4 or ABP in the Gold Cup at 5-2?

Bookies will take him on no doubt and be boosted on the day.

                  • For what it's worth, I don't believe for one second that RP will run here. GC all day long imo. Ricci would have learnt his lesson with Vautour and has thrown similar types into the deep end of the GC before in Djakadam. He's got Monkfish for next year and Envoi will most likely be there too. This year is RP"s opportunity. This year's race, ABP apart, is very open, poor even?? Ricci and Venetia will not give up the opportunity.

                    • NEXT DESTINATION

National Hunt Chase and Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase

We’ll talk about the National Hunt Challenge Cup. He’s also in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, which is a race we really want to run him in and if it’s soft we’ll run him in that. But we just put him in this race because he obviously stays very strongly. He’s a novice, obviously another plus is that Harry (Cobden) can ride him now, and we’ll probably confirm him at the five-day stage for both races and make a plan. It’s almost certain that if it’s soft he’ll run in the Brown Advisory, but this is an option.

For those that haven't seen my comment on RSA thread, PN all but confirms RSA as the plan around 33 mins in to the Old Gold Racing preview yesterday. Highly highly unlikely to come here.

His concerns re the ground and comments re jockey would suggest otherwise?

                          Comment

                          • I’m surprised he’s dropping those comments now, I thought he had been pretty adamant that RSA was the target. Maybe Cobden has persuaded them, and there running a bit scared of monkfish, I don’t blame them TBH, and I was always of the opinion next destination would be more suited to the National hunt.

i know those comments aren’t conclusive, but I just get the feeling there going to go National hunt chase.

I’ve had to cover NRNB at 9/1 on Sky, surely goes off shorter and has a big chance. Sensible approach IMO
