    CHELTENHAM ANALYSIS RACING POST RATINGS

Why this 20-1 shot is the right type at the right price for the Albert Bartlett

Torygraph is unquestionably all about stamina. He improved significantly for the step up to staying trips, securing easy victories in the same Fairyhouse and Thurles races that Monkfish took en route to winning the Albert Bartlett last year.

Like Monkfish, Torygraph arrives without any graded form in the book, but he earned big RPRs to outstay his rivals the last twice and there’s a good chance he will improve again off a strong pace with even more emphasis placed on stamina. I’m not saying he’s another Monkfish, but at 20-1 he’s the right type at the right price.

Thoughts on Torygraph and where he might go at the festival?

Obviously Gigginstown and Gordon will decide, but I don't see any reason why he wouldn't go for the Albert Bartlett. His form is good and he's a proper stayer. He looks made for that race really.

Thanks for posting up these quotes mate. Music to my ears that one. Wonder what that means for Farouk D’Alene?

Looking more and more likely Farouk won't be travelling imo! Can't see Gordy entering so many in AB.

What makes you say that BB? Have you heard something?

He isn't that strong on the exchanges tbf.

No haven't heard anything, but seem to be stronger noise for Fakiera and Torygrapgh lately? Then him not having another entry. Then think he was quoted as being gordys ballymore horse maybe he will go there! Dunno maybe just getting paranoid and nervous as we get closer to the extravaganza!

No problem. Its a race that Gigginstown have gone mob handed in the past so hope they'll do the same this year. The lack of a run doesn't bother me, especially after his slog at Limerick, but I would like to see GE or the O'Leary's name check this race.

                    • With their strong hand and his tendency to go fairly violently right at fences I do think it’d be right for them to skip Cheltenham with Farouk D’alene

He only went violently right one day when we know he wasn’t right. I think you’re doing the horse a disservice there personally

All about opinions mate but I respectfully disagree. Have watched the Down Royal, Navan, and Limerick races from this season a number of times now. I agree he only jumps violently right consistently in the Navan race. However, he also jumps right and half the fences at Down Royal and Limerick (and that’s being kind as some of the flights it’s difficult to tell from the TV angle). Even the ones he jumps straight-ish don’t convince me as for many Kennedy/McGarvey both use the extreme right hand side of flights to prevent him from doing so.

Even if he doesn’t jump violently or heavily right at Cheltenham. He will still lose lengths over the course of 12 flights and 3 miles if he jumps slightly right. Given that I don’t think he’s that much better (if at all) than Fakiera or Torygraph, let alone the rest of the field, i cannot see him as the winner.

And this is from someone who holds a 33/1 docket.

I respect your opinion - i will go back and watch his races with an open mind and without my rose tinted glasses on Cheers SG

                            • Hasn’t his tendency to go right when he’s been in the lead on his own? Whilst it’s not ideal around Cheltenham surely they would drop him in amongst horses so that he couldn’t do it and the Bartlett should have a big field for them to do that?

                              • There are only 2 hurdles in the last mile, so not such a big deal.

Energumene jumps to his right more often than not.
