I wonder if I'll get accused of being drunk again when daring to question whether these are sensible prices in March2019
The other of course was Santini, who inexplicabily is now best priced 12/1 for a Gold Cup - when he was 14/1 before Kemboy won at Aintree, which although unrelated form, makes Santini's task harder on paper. Santini at 12/1 is one of the worst bets I could imagine at this stage. LOADS better off backing him for the Ladbroke Trophy (where he is best priced 12/1)
I am mulling over the risk in Altior at 5/1 for the QMCC - and 20/1 in a Gold Cup. I think the Ryanair is a 100/1 shot at best that he ran... he'd need to not stay in the King George then get beaten over 2 miles before Cheltenham for that to come into the equation (so perhaps it's less than 100/1 but I'm not considering it for now).
I am pretty sure I'll start backing him in doubles (with him being the last leg) for the King George - but 5/1 is a tempting price when even if he does win a King George, he could go for an incredible 3rd QMCC.
The division doesn't look particularly strong with newcomers (only really Le Richebourg, Duc Des Genivres, Defi Du Seuil, Cilaos Emery and to some extent Great Field to show their potential hands)
5/1 not something to go wild about 11 months away with an uncertain target, but food for thought on a Monday
Thought about it and considered double with espoir with hills.
But think the price might pop up again at some point in the season especially if they start at 2m 4f then king George as suggested
Although Henderson could easily state early in season that the Cheltenham race will still be queen mother. So can’t be sure.
May be a better bet to have with bet365 immediately prior to Kempton as there’ll be a lot of talk about Gold cup etc.
Hendersons gob is the key.
Second bets for Cheltenham 2020 placed. 1pt each on Carefully Selected and Allaho for the RSA, both at 33/1. Have to hope at least one of them would be aimed down that route next year
After a decent festival I've embraced the antepost a little earlier this year. Real money bets only so far (not including freebies and multis):
BDD - 1 point Mares 6.5/1, 1 point Any race 5.4/1 (may top this one up)
Paisley Park - 3 points Stayers 7/2
Carefully Selected - 1.5 points RSA 33/1 and NHC 1 point 25/1
Klassical Dream - 4 points Any race 5.4/1
That will probably be me until September in terms of proper bets, but will hopefully get a few free bets on and continue to place small cross sport multis with a Cheltenham horse as the last leg, which has already been going well
Second real money bet place (first was the Gypsy Island special)
Added Delta Work at 25/1 as he sailed over the last.
Very impressive.
Gold Cup division is absolutely superb for next year. Bellshill, Kemboy, Al Boum Photo tomorrow.
Topofthegame, Santini, Delta Work from the RSA.
Presenting Percy to bounce back and Lostintranslation in the mix - - Clan Des Obeaux a year stronger?
Woooooooooooo
and sweet Jesus, what if Altior wins the King George.
Had a few false dawns with 'great' looking Gold Cups since Kauto vs Denman era, but this is a magnificent time to be in to racing, surely.
I tried to get a bet on DW with 365 before he reached the last but they weren't having it and then I ended up missing the end of the race to add insult to injury...haha
