  • That will get my free bet, if you said you are eating evens on both Altior and PP then you could say 5/1 on KD and 4/1 on all 3 to get there

            • Very very very close to backing Min in the Ryanair at 13/1 (WH)

There is absolutely NO DOUBT he stays for me.

On that form he'd have easily won a Ryanair.

He's a bit hot and cold to be backing this far out... but 20L win in the Melling against the 2nd in the QMCC?

Puts Cyrname's performance against the same horses in your mind too.

I was pretty confident he'd go Ryanair this year and that proved to be wrong but.... his best 2 runs this year have now been the John Durkan and the melling over 2m4f?

              • I think a few horses chose the wrong races at Cheltenham after convincing wins on a different type of track over the past 2 days. I think Champ would have won the AB, LiT would have seriously competed in the RSA but not convinced Min would have beat Frodon and I don’t think Kemboy would have finished in the top 3 of the Gold Cup. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to to see if Min & Kemboy can prove me wrong next year. All the above horses were very impressive at Aintree though.

                • Not so sure on Champ; they went an absolute crawl yesterday so his turn of foot would have helped more than stamina

I’ve just watched the race again and I think you’re right

Massive to say Kemboy wouldn't have finished in the first 3?

Bristol De Mai was 3rd at Cheltenham and Kemboy has beaten him double figures on the bridle?

Having beaten Anibale Fly a similar distance at Christmas.

I'm guessing that his new mark will be slightly below Al Boum Photo because of the relative prestige of the races. It's not unreasonable to hope that this year's novices can improve 10lb for the summer off but it's a long time since you've seen Ruby smile like he did on Thursday in the winner's enclosure.

                        • I think Kemboy best chance is the Ryanair, I’m not saying he won’t compete in the Gold Cup but think the distance and hill will be too much for him just like it would have been for Frodon. I really like Kemboy but think he is tailor made for the Ryanair instead of the Gold Cup.

That said you know a lot more about the horse than me Archie so if you’re saying I’m talking rubbish then I probably am

Do you believe if Kemboy had to run another furlong at Aintree he'd have been beaten?

I'd have absolutely zero worries at the trip.

You can perhaps ask questions of the track but Mullins had been pretty adamant he'd stay and I'm amazed you'd even consider him for the Ryanair. Absolutely no way he's going for that

                            • Of course, we won't know for sure until the day because it's highly unlikely that any of his prep races will be further than 3 miles with a stiff uphill finish. Nothing is impossible with Willie but you'd be surprised if he suddenly decided that the Ryanair was the perfect fit for Kemboy. Apart from anything else, Cadmium wins the Ryanair.

....I remember Mullins running Kemboy in the Irish National as a very young horse last season, so I imagine he thinks stamina is absolutely not an issue. The way it was backed into 8-1 at the off for this years GC suggests to me they also think it’s a very smart horse.

I actually backed it ante-post @ 27-1 for this season’s Ryanair but i’m already on for next years GC.
