Sound like it will be perfect ground, G/S and parts soft.. a few sunny days like thursday & friday next week and cheltenham drains well... would hate to see it very soft like last year... f@!ked up 90% of my bets..

It’s forecast for light rain Monday and Tuesday this week week, with Wednesday heavy rain, and rain falling through most of the day. Next Sunday onwards rain every day, including Tuesday to Friday of the Festival. That’s why I have decided that on Festival Thursday and Friday to go with horses preferring cut in the ground.

Doesn't sound like there is too much forecast. SC said the course was on the quick side of good at the end of last week so a little rain should make it perfect for all horses. No excuses on good to soft ground for any horse really

My first post on this forum and am a member of another forum that is similar, have been following for a while so thanks to all the knowledgeable contributors. Going to all 4 day this year as I live in cheltenham. Has been blustery and steady rain today but dried up mainly this afternoon with strong winds. With so many ground dependant horses it could be interesting this year. With the strength of wind tonight it will dry up again. We have rain forecast for Weds then some drying days before the weekend before the festival when more showery again.

And hi to all on the forum

                Welcome to the forum Beau.

Are there any new bars that I should be visiting this year in Cheltenham?

I think we can take these weather forecasts with a pinch of salt, I know they are vital in a betting POV, but I wish I had a quid for the amount of wrong forecasts we get trying to predict what's going to happen in the near future ie a couple of days in advance. I think trying to predict what's going to happen for four days 10 days away is at best very difficult.

                        latest update - http://maps.turftrax.co.uk/latestgoi...rse=Cheltenham

Good, Good-Soft in places. The forecast look absolutely perfect for their needs to me. Enough rain about this week to keep it good to soft without watering, but not enough for it to get very soft. Hopefully the perfect spring ground.

Obviously that can change... but for the next week or so it looks ideal anyway.

Hoping the long range forecast for the first day will change however... suggesting a deluge all day.

And it looks to be quite a cold festival too, by current forecasts! Wouldn’t mind a few more degrees and a little less rain during festival week.

I think it’ll go off good to soft (soft in places) and finish soft.

Thankyou for the welcome. No idea on the bars etc but might visit one or two depending on how it goes. No im not a member at Cheltenham .. hope that answers your question. When i was younger my parents took me out of school to go to Dessies gold cup - ikdam in that race splashing through the mud .. some sort of water cannon fire engine thing getting water off the course into the centre sticks in the mind. Many happy years after, short priced favs getting beaten and some fantastic horses never to be forgotten. I was sold from then on coming from a horsey family.

Now onto the weather - after a couple of dry days its raining and wind has dropped a touch. Steady moderate to heavy rain (not light) from approx 7pm until now. No idea with the drainage how that has affected the ground and its still a long way off but it will have gone in. I wont be around this weekend in chelt but will check in here sunday night.

                            Not long now

Looks plenty of rain about but more showers and very windy. Combine strong winds with periods of rain and dry spells and it shouldn't be overly bad. A drying spell from tomorrow afternoon onwards and strong winds should make it lovely and then looks unsettled.
