I’ve gone with the view that posters that we know have set a very high bar. So any new poster is therefore a big price just to be at that level. That’s the view ive taken despite many of the newbies likely to be excellent posters. The ‘unknown’ factor is my reasoning for them being big in all markets.

It’s the unknown novices going up and taking on the older horses who are proven at their level - some of which are Grade 1 standard

Haha yeah fair play, no right or wrong way to do it...

Another big favourite is here in the 8th and final group as Faugheen_Machines quest for FJ Tipster glory starts here in an otherwise wide open group. I make him the shortest price favourite of the group stage at just 2/1. Liammet won’t go down without a fight though and I also think Jorvik, despite his inexperience, will go well with his guarantee of points in the Juvenile races which will be crucial. Brital, Imperial Commander and Smiley will all come out and fire in winners but will have a huge task against our market leader.. one that may just head the outright market.

This is the group of death! What an awful draw for those in Group F. Previous competition winner Archie heads the betting with excellent posters Charlie and Lobos also in the group. The betting suggests it’s a three horse race which is very harsh on OTL, JTH and Penzance who all would be shorter in the market in any other group. They’ve simply had some bad luck. However, good tipping and they’ll show those odds to be a nonsense. With only two qualifying per group, it looks a really tough group to be in and whoever goes through will be deservingly high in the outright market. At least one of the big guns in the outright betting will be going home here as the first casualty of the competition gets taken by the dreaded group of death.

Trainer states that, if as expected, we have a curry on New Years Eve, I might need a wind operation.

I presume that all entries will be required to provide a covid jab certificate or proof of a negative test.
