It's so bloody weird, these changes are still stupid imo.

The idea (presumably) is to force unexposed horses into their G1 novice option which of course if geared more towards hurdlers as chasers are likely to have shown their hand on the course over timber.
What the programme misses in my view is a dedicated 5yo schedule, create a qualifying series with a final that carries a decent pot then these 5yo novice hurdlers aren't trained for a County from the moment they lose in a graded novice event....

He says he doesn't need the 5 runs for The County.
Unfortunately too many people doing these podcasts that think they know it all and talk with the confidence that people then believe them.
        • Currently horses must have run at least three times (chases) or four times (hurdles) to be eligible to run in non-novice handicaps at The Festival. From 2025, this will be increased to four chase and five hurdle runs.
There are no novice handicap hurdles at The Festival so that part is irrelevant.

Would the only exception be the boodles? Sure they are only require 4 because of age.

Boodles is a juvenile handicap hurdle, not a novice, so still just the three runs required. Lark In The Morning won last year on the back of just three hurdle starts.

                Kevloaf is the man.
There was a thread around at some point with Avatar requests, I can't see it now, but anyway only the Chief has the ability and tools to perform such technical work...

                • For timings, is it roughly 4L per second on soft ground?

                      • When Willie brings 30 odd horses over for Cheltenham where do they stay: do they rent stables or own one over here for use when they come over in numbers?

Pretty sure they are all housed at the course, Cheltenham have extensive facilities these days including accommodation for travelling stable staff....

                          • Believe the Irish horses are on a conveyor belt back and forward. Tuesday horses come over during the weekend and head back on the Tuesday night, Wednesday morning and that's continuous over race week. So not all of Willie's are there for the entire week. Ditto Gordon.

                            • Plenty stay at Aintree too as a stopover.

That makes sense. So do they stay at Cheltenham for those few days In temp stables?
