I don't think I've ever actually done the "what would this have paid at SP" comparision...but I know it's way better.
Not even needing to use whoever actually did best each year, but I know any diary I've had on here would prove it if anyone could be arsed to do the maths
It's your mates loss Liammet .... too many ante post punters already, let him stick to on the day and you keep your edge
I know what you’re saying Kev
His point was do you take into consideration stakes lost as non runner
Also, the reason it is way better for you is you put the time and effort into it like many on here
And that’s how it should be but for a small time bit part punter is it worth it ?
Without the time and effort 100% no ....
I feel like my edge is defined as time and effort...and effort is very much absorbing this forums knowledge in the main!
I'm profitable not because I'm personally great at tipping horses, but because I can abosrb the info and I put the effort it.
For me it's like diets ... loads of them work, if you stick to them. No matter what diet you try, if you stuck to it, it'd work and if you don't, it won't.... same with gambling. All about effort!
Expecting to lose weight with no effort or wanting a very quick win is not realistic, exactly the same with punting.
Tell him to sign up and put some feckin' effort in
Stoopid Question time , I did a 7 fold Acca today - n.r.m.b. , so if one of them ends up a N/R ..
Will it automatically become a 6 fold Acca and so on . Thank you in advance .... .

If you did a 7 fold acca it was become a losing bet.
Best of luck though….

Was asked this today by a mate I was trying to convince to bet Antepost
Has anyone calculated stake v profit Antepost on a festival ? I am sure you have
And then compared it with the same pot and placed all bets on the day ?
Not quite what you asked, but I always track how much I'd have to stake now on each horse to get the same returns at current odds. I don't see myself as anywhere near as good a judge as some on here, but including every bet I've placed, I'd have to spend something like 165% of what I've staked overall so far to get the same returns. I'm sure some on here would easily be over 200%.
Would it put anyone off backing a horse who had his first start in a bumper in France at the festival?
Some horses I like who fit, il etait temps, impaire et passe, galliard du mesnil.
winners last 5 years:
ultima - coo star sivola
champion hdl - epatante, buveur dair, espoir dallen
coral cup - dame de compagnie, blue berry
turners - defi du seuil
mares nov - eglantine du seuil
kim muir - chambard

looking at these I think it’s a big negative.
The problem with that, is the 3 you've picked would make the stat look better...
What we'd need to know is who previously qualified and HADN'T won?

Elixir D’ainay was going ok before being taken out at the second last in shiskins supreme. Fakir Doudairies was a respectable 4th. Crack Mome a well beat 13th. Buveur Dair 3rd. Alvisio Ville a well held 7th. Valseur Lido beat 11L in 10th.
galliard 2nd to Bob, easy game beat 27L in 8th, sous les cieux beat 24L in 5th at 11/2, so young 4th at 2-1 fav.
Arpege Dalene beat 6L in 4th at 12s, arbre de vie PU 14s, vicente beat 15L in 4th at 14/1.
after looking at those I think I’m definitely put off but struggling for alternatives.
I don't understand why you'd be put off by that to be honest? You got any further reasoning?
I liked your Longchamp stat, and it actually made a bit of sense in the way that race is going. But this one I don't really understand at all to be honest.
You've not even highlighted many horses coming from a french bumper background that have been fancied and beaten. It almost looks like a positive in fact

I suppose my logic is that in France they seem to throw them over hurdles straight away. Past winners such as Douvan, Vautour, Klassical Dream started out that way. French bumpers also tend to be over shorter usually 1m4f, both IET and IEP were over 1m4f.
Buveur D’Air did have his 2 main supreme rivals step out of the way but he obviously progressed to win 2 champions, but my theory is there more growing to do in the bumper runners than the hurdlers, I’m not sure but it’s something I’m considering.
Espoir as impressive as he was the race kind of fell apart and we never got the chance to see him do it again.
epatante definitely improved significantly for the extra year.
I think this is probably also backed up by the coral cup winners.
DDS won probably a below average triump but he definitely progressed for turning 6.
