        • Sorry for being thick but I have a question about Betfair. If I open a Betfair account can I place bets with Betfair Sportsbook and dabble on Betfair Exchange too or do you need separate accounts for each? Thanks in advance.

              • When can a horse no longer run in bumpers? Both Luccia and Queens Gamble run in tomorrow's bumper and I was wondering could they still run in the Champion Bumper at the Festival?

Once they've had a hurdles run I guess

The glancing queen ran in the Champion bumper twice for instance

According to the 2020/2021 jumps pattern book:

"For four five and six yrs old only, which have not run under any recognised rules of racing, except national hunt flat races, Irish national hunt flat races or French AQPS flat races. Horses are not to have run in more than four races and, prior to closing, must have been placed first, second, third or fourth in a race"

                    • Q regarding the saying “anything he does over hurdles is a bonus cause he’s a chaser in the making”.

No one in mind but what’s the thinking here
? is it that bigger horses jump their hurdles too high so are less likely to be winners over hurdles than fences? Always perplexed me if he can jump a fence he should clear a hurdle unless it’s their size/jumping style which explains it

IMO it’s usually trainer sales talk to gullible owners.
managing expectations and attempting to retain for as long as possible.

But also some truth based on breeding and size etc

                        • We have joked on here before about the 3 year old being talked up as a potential future veteran Chase champion!!

Bigger horses generally take longer to physically mature

I'd say they improve for time not for a switch in obstacles

You can find some that do, Sean Graham for example usually travels down from the north for these big Irish festivals
