    1. How do people's betting patterns develop through the year in term of proportion of outlay? Are there periods of the season you tend to put more on and others where you put less?

Has been called out already, but the more knowledge and expertise I have on the race, the higher I allow my stake

    2. Related to this, has anyone done any analysis (if possible) of relative position of winners in markets over a year? It would be interesting if - based on evidence - there were points in the year where the market tends to reflect winners emerging.

    1. Low stakes on the lesser races - i.e. the 14:12 class 4 handicap at Worcester
Medium-High Stakes on key races of the year - Tingle Creek, The Ladbroke, King George, all of the Cheltenham events
    Medium-High-Max stakes at the festival

    2. That would be interesting... but... not sure whether this would yield any consistency if you purely based this on odds.
I think certain races such as the Arkle will generally find the winner as soon as the supreme has been ran - the winner of the Supreme will often be AP fav for the arkle, go off short odd fav on the day, and is likely to win
I'd imagine the markets start to narrow down the winner after the christmas and Dublin racing festival, but then again, you'd expect this with a bunch of NR's a poor performances from early-mid part of the season
To answer your question... not seen this level of analysis done before

Not being a wise arse here either.

I pay for my Racing Post subscription, and use the tracker on there. However, most of my reminders about horses I'm keen on come from posts on here. Someone will post a stable update, or a review of the weekend races ahead, or call out a horse that has a great profile for the fez thats running, or someone will post up a To Win Today and the Fez
I actually turned off the tracker I was using because
      1) I was getting bombarded with emails and
      2) This place highlights anything of interest anyway

            It was an open goal

On your user settings, you can tick a box to be notified when someone likes a post. Not sure if it tells you who it is, but I'd assume so

              Very good point Stormez.

Not being able to view who likes your thoughts and work is frustrating.

Maybe this could be "turned on" for the website without any hassle - worth hearing whether its possible or not, I would suggest.

                • Also does everyone know that they can SUBSCRIBE to their favourite threads, Diaries, etc, by clicking the SUBSCRIBE BUTTON on the Top, Right-hand Side of the Thread?

This then leads to Notifications for you, each time your Subscribed threads are used.

I use it a lot, 14 subscriptions, to pick up on those threads I am most interested in first, before reading the others.

A good way of sifting information, into your preferred order.

Each Subscribe button is easily turned on and off, so if you get too much content being notified you can trim down on it.

                  • Why are weights for point to point horses shown with the jockey claim taken into account, whilst under rules races the jockey claim is advertised but you have to subtract it from the weight yourself?

e.g. P2P horse runs off 11-7 but jockey has 5lb claim, weight is advertised at 11-2
Rules horse runs off 11-7 but jockey has 5lb claim, weight is still advertised at 11-7 but horse actually runs off 11-2.

Is it just a quirk, is there a good reason, or have I just completely misunderstood for all these years and got it horribly wrong?!

Is the ptp post race? If so it’s the same as rules, pre race doesn’t show claim, post race claim is shown.

So pre-race in a racecard it says Weight 12st, Jockey Name (7) - for 7lb claim

Then after the race its reported 11st 7lb, Jockey Name (7) - which shows the true weight carried, and the reason is the 7lb claim?

                            • Proform racing

There's a 50% off promo on its 8 week platinum subscription via the Final Furlong Podcast in case anyone is interested.

Instead of paying ?195, you get it for ?97.50.

I should say I'm not an everyday gambler but will have a bet on the weekend or during the main flat and jumps festivals. I joined this forum to take a more Antepost approach to my betting so as I have never used pro-form before, I thought I'd ask the question here to see if anyone has used it before.

                              If yes;
Do people think it's worth it?

Do you have to be an everyday punter to make full use of it or would it suit people like me who aren't?

What does it do that you can't get elsewhere like from the racing post, racing websites, this forum, etc?

                              • If I place an ante post Lucky 15 or 31 or even a 63 and I have a non runner, such as Monkfish who is out for the season, does the rest of the bet still stand. Does the Lucky 31 then become a 15 and a 15, a patent? Thanks.
