Yep, some may notice the same with Bravemansgame this season, as he's owned by John Dance & Bryan Drew who both have different silks.

There are probably others but this was one from recent days.

    • How can I find out or figure out the odds of an acca/treble or any other sort? Example being you have a 3/1, 4/1 and 10/1 treble.

I use an app on my phone called "Bet Calculator". Had all forms of bets on it, very good.

              Turn them into decimals.

              4.0 x 5.0 x 11.0 (-1) will give you the odds.

              • I have no idea if this falls under 'stupid questions' but I'm sure I'll find out

How rare/common is it for the handicapper to raise a veteran horse aged 11 or older 12lbs+? (Minellacelebration)

Hadn’t seen that, but that is extremely rare.
Most veterans wins command 4/5/6lb penalties because the handicapper has years of form to compare against, 12lb is obscene unless the horse was dropped significantly for being off the track for a while.
Owners every right to be unhappy...

Cheers Ista, I thought so. It was definitely a justified hike IMO. Pissed up for a veteran and left some decent subsequent winners in behind

Hcap doesn't factor age into it, just rates what a horse does(in theory) anyway.Vieux Lion Rouge got 12lbs the other month after a huge margin win which basically makes him life very tough for the for the next Year(find out later if that starts to be true). Sounds like connections don't mind as it guaranteed him entry into the GN again thou.

That's a given, I was on about how rare is it for an older horse to find that kind of improvement in the handicappers eyes. Interesting you mention VLR cause he walloped him before he came out and won next time up.

It no doubt is rare and i don't have the figures but it emphasises my feelings that this season the hcapper has been taking a very literal view on far too much, Minella being one such example. Of course if he goes close today i can take it on the chin that the hcapper was right with this horse but as a whole I've taken a dim view on the hcapper this season.

It's probably not rare but equally a little bit unusual. I think he'll go seriously close today

I’m not convinced that’s the case Outlaw, perhaps that’s true if older horses who have missed chunks of time or were very late switching to fences.
You gave the Vieux Lion Rouge example, Perfect Candidate won a competitive handicap chase by 45l a few weeks back and went up 8lb, a performance that could easily have commanded more but for a horse in his 8th/9th season to win that far those behind must have underperformed and I think that’s the view the handicapper took in ‘only’ raising him 8lb....

Hence my reasoning of it being very harsh on VLR as that race when you compared it on the card wasn't out the ordinary and thus plenty in it underwhelmed plus 6 didn't finish. The very first point on the BHA website states " Every horse will be treated fairly and with the highest level of integrity at all times, strictly on the merit of its form and using good handicapping practice" All they can do is on what happens or at least that's what they should try too.

I haven't put figures on PC win so not going to comment on that one.
