Would be a case by case, no set rule .... if the first two had won I'd probably try and get it as low as I could the night before .... I'd probably want it boxed off before SP but that may not be optimal.

Thanks your opinion Kevloaf. Depending on how Tuesday and Wednesday go, I might just do this

      • Good luck, on the fringe. I've had similar 'dilemnas'. Experience has told me to stick, rather than twist.

You've got the comfort to decide. Let us know how you get on.

          Do agree.

Depending on what the initial stake was and how the week is going.... that could change it.... but stick rather than twist would be my starting point too!

Flooring Porter is a dual winner too, if one leg did let you down, at least it wasn't wild!

          • Why are Rich Ricci's horses in his wife's name? Is it to do with tax or something?

Same situation with Joe Donnelly thinking about it.

Not sure if it's just a tax thing. Probably a bit of love thrown in there as well. Not an uncommon scenario, fellas owning the horse, having the real interest, but declaring it in the wife's name. I've seen many examples since the 1970s. Yes, I'm that old.

Rich Ricci sounds like a made up name, he probably is Susanna in real life.

Pretty sure there is a tax case in Ireland believe it was Jim Bolger. Was something to do with prize money would have been taxable in Jim's name as he was a trainer and made a living from racing but for his wife it was a hobby and not taxable, this included any profits from the sale of horses. Not sure if Ricci's and Donnellys betting interests would be a reason maybe.

Mrs Donnelly is at the races isn't she..... I've seen her interviewed.... I just assume she's in to it?

Susannah, married to a US banker, little more sceptical.

I'd imagine she is but wasnt he a bookmaker previously and Rich has betbright.

Owners of Il Etait Temps are active bookmakers, and pretty sure Kalooki Sports own a horse called Kalooki, so it can't be a betting interests thing surely.

Unrelated to that but for years Jessica Harrington was referred to as Mrs John Harrington when her horse was listed as a winner in the RP, no idea why that was like that either.

                          • Was asked this today by a mate I was trying to convince to bet Antepost

Has anyone calculated stake v profit Antepost on a festival ? I am sure you have
And then compared it with the same pot and placed all bets on the day ?

I don't think I've ever actually done the "what would this have paid at SP" comparision...but I know it's way better.

Not even needing to use whoever actually did best each year, but I know any diary I've had on here would prove it if anyone could be arsed to do the maths

It's your mates loss Liammet .... too many ante post punters already, let him stick to on the day and you keep your edge
