Could anyone enlighten me on when an antepost market for say one of the festival handicaps becomes an overound market,? I was trying last year to find a sweet spot for when to introduce some horses into the handicap markets and found tje overounds didnt make sense even with 50 - 60 horses listed, this was in mid to late jan, has anyone got an idea of when the best time is to introduce horses into the handicap markets? 2 questions really..

All antepost markets are stacked in the bookies favour really, general rule of thumb the more horses they price the bigger the overround. Personally forget the overround in APs and think of a price you are happy with for that horse don't worry about the rest of that market especially in handicaps.

Regarding when, no real right or wrong but before an intended race entry or when a horse isn't being talked about would be wise. So many try to get one priced with recency bias with eyecatching runs etc ,would be wise to avoid doing the obvious.

My basic answer would have been that it means the horse isn't responding positively to the whip (or not putting in more effort than before it was used)

If a horse wags their tail during their races they are using up unnecessary energy and not concentrating on their job, some horses flash their tail in protest hen knuckle down and get on with it, but it can never be a positive....
