Normally if you place a Trixie bet (4 lines in total) the bet is consolidated so, whilst you have the 4 lines placed, they are wrapped up and you can only change (cash out) the whole bet.

If you take those four lines and place them as individual bets (1 x treble and 3 x doubles), you now have the freedom to cash out any of those individual bets, and still have the lines you like active. So if you had Galvin included in the Trixie for the XC race and you now think there is no chance he will go there, you can cash out those lines with Galvin included and leave the other line in tact at the original prices.

    • This is something i also do,although i don't do many multiples. A word of warning for bets with BFSB. I placed a yankee split into its component parts and when i checked i'd got cash out in the my bets section they had lumped all the doubles together as one bet and the same with the trebles. As it happens as soon as Monkfish was announced a NR the cash out was suspended and remains so. Bet 365 don't do the same and each individual bet remains cashable, for now at least

Although it takes time and patience, I place all of my ante post multiple bets as single lines, rather than wrapping them up in the predefined multiple bets like Trixies, Yankees and Lucky 15's etc. I only do this where cash out is offered and the reason for this process is flexibility. If you use a wrapper and one of your horses in the bet gets injured, changes target or proves garbage, there is nothing you can do and you have to let the whole bet ride. However, if you place each line as individual bet, you can then cash out the unwanted lines and leave the ones you like rolling.

Something to bear in mind for those of you who like a multiple bet and have cash out accounts available.
Had never thought of that, thanks Jackiemoon33.

So for a yankee you would place one 4 fold, four trebles and six doubles? Never really thought that way but I think I might adopt that method.

That's the one. Works well - just a bit more time consuming (and at times confusing so I always write all combinations on a piece of paper and tick them off!)

            • It's always worth the time to split multis into their component parts HTR. Things change significantly over a season and the ability to cash out is vital.

I've even started to split my singles up into 1 point units (e.g. 3 points are 3 bets), so I can part cash out and easily adjust stakes if I want to. I may even take it one step further to a half point next season as it's already working for me.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

That is also an interesting method. What makes you adjust stakes?

Yep, and that's also crucial if you play the large speculative yankees as the maximum payouts could be breached.
I'll copy the link to this message shortly that shows the maximum payouts per bet by bookmaker, so if your yankee pays 200k and your bookmaker has a 100k max payout you lose out on 100k, by having the individual doubles, trebles and 4 fold each individual bet carries a max payout of 100k and none of your lines are likely to exceed the limit

Bet365 do offer a partial cash out so you can take part of your stake out and still let the rest ride. As the cash out value builds this can be a good way to reinvest. However, this, along with some reasonable winnings, has cost me 2 accounts.

Not a stupid question, but stupid horses.

                      • In terms of book making how do you approach a race antepost wise a horse that you haven't got on board yet but is say 4/1 where as the rest in the race you've covered for let's say 10/1+

                        • I look to make a specific profit and depending on the horse I will simply stake accordingly. There are times when I may look to roll up though.

                          • How are people managing to put these place multiples on Skybet? It'll only let me do singles.

Are you trying to include horses from the Gold Cup market ? I can do multiples but not if i include one from there

                                On sky bet;
-go to future races -choose Cheltenham
-pick whatever festival race you want to bet on
-Scroll down past all of the horse names
-expand the drop down for 'antepost betting - 3 places'
EDIT - not everything available for multiples but most appear to be, I know Al Boum Photo isn't eligible for multis
