  • Unlike the UK, his rating over hurdles would not be moved up to 160 automatically which I believe is the rule over there.

Thanks for asking the question Jack. Anyone know the UK handicappers Twitter handle

      • That is bonkers.

They’d have him up to his chase mark of 160? That’s poor if true

        • I read that though as not necessarily affecting The Storyteller as he is an Irish horse, thought he was just saying for UK horses

Surely GE knows what the game is as it was his idea. Not sure what the exact quote was though, may have only been referring to big Irish handicaps?

Dosent matter if your uk or Irish. If your racing in the UK. It's uk rules.

I thought he would have gone for the handicap that total recall did last year at Dublin racing festival. As it would have been the exact same scenario. As it stands he got a 3rd in the irsh gold cup and won that race anyway. So there'll be other days.

            • I was in William Hills before and noticed he was 14/1 any race so had a few quid on; can tear that slip up if he’s going to have to go hurdling off a mark of 160!

              • Some horses do not revert to hurdles once they go chasing, so after three consecutive chase starts we delete the hurdle rating. If such a horse is entered in a hurdle, we will provide a figure at this point. This is also available to trainers at any time on request.

part of the text that I hope refers to The Storyteller and Gordon knows.
Or that's at least the third dummy he's sold us this season, after Envoi Allen & Apples Jade.
Ricci & Mullins are angels in comparison.

                • Haha quevega! Hopefully then if they request it they are even a little realistic that not all horses translate their chase mark to hurdles that’s me clutching of course

pretty sure it won't get 160 myself, but lets just hope we get an entry and Gordon's not already binned the idea.

                      ATR stable tour in October.

He’s a horse I think an awful lot of. He was obviously lucky to win the Grade 1 novice chase at the Punchestown Festival, but he had a great season up to that and had won at the Cheltenham Festival too. Don’t be surprised if he ends up back over hurdles, as he looks well-handicapped and could have a big one in him.

Nice one Boopa that’s it. I think I just equated big one with Cheltenham which might have been wide of the mark. Enthusiasm dampened but hope springs eternal

                        • Not sure what else would be on the table for TS? 160 is too high for a chase handicap, well held for both the GC and Ryanair

I'm told by a reliably connected friend this is his target, and that they think he just wins
